As of now, 80% of my comments are on Twitter, direct from Feedly. These comments can then be mashed up in various ways and even integrated back into the main comment flow, because of the app ecosystem around Twitter. If SideWiki builds a similar app ecosystem, I see myself commenting on it more. If not, no one will even look at it.

Re: Decoding Social Media Marketing and Social Business Strategy

@Leslie: We just wrote a position paper on Social Business Strategy: http://www.gauravonomics.com/blog/position-pape...

Re: Position Paper: The 20:20 Social Approach to Social Business Strategy

@Gautam: So far, we have been very successful in explaining to clients what a social object is. :-)

Re: Position Paper: The 20:20 Social Approach to Social Business Strategy

@Gautam: You hit the nail on the head. The idea that you need to start from "social object" is one of the key insights in the position paper. The idea that conversations are driven by experiences and Marketing and Operations need to be aligned to deliver talk-worthy experiences are the other two core ideas.

Re: The Difference Between Being Simple and Being Simplistic

@Ranjan: Exactly. The user interface needs to be simple, but the design process often needs to be comprehensive, even complicated, in order to enable that simplicity.

Re: 20:20 Social Reading List

@Anay: Read 'Here Comes Everybody' from a beginner's perspective and 'Groundswell' from a practitioner's perspective.

Re: 20:20 Social Reading List

@Mayank: 'The Back of the Napkin' is great. We need to move from the KM paradigm of people actively creating knowledge to a KM paradigm of knowledge getting created as a by-product of people doing their work.

Re: Where’s the Big Opportunity in the Indian Internet Space?

@Shyam: 50 million users (which is the number I believe) is bigger than the size of most countries in the world. So, while I agree that true scale can only be achieved if we start hitting the 200-300 million users size, as China has, I also believe that a 50 million user base is adequate to build profitable businesses. Then, we have the 400 million mobile users. :-)

Re: Where’s the Big Opportunity in the Indian Internet Space?

@Shyam: Very valid points. The architecture with the three layers was an afterthought (I actually put it in after writing the post!) My point is that, as long as Indian web companies focus purely on transactions or information, they won't be able to become “utilities” (daily must-visits) in our lives. That will only happen when they build a vibrant local community around local content. So, let me also ask you: what, in your mind, is the big opportunity on the Indian internet?

Re: Where’s the Big Opportunity in the Indian Internet Space?

@Shyam: Point taken. I have the habit of starting from the most layered version of what is possible, and then working backwards to what is essential. As you might have noticed, the API layer is not essential to what I'm saying here. "Building a compelling vertical offering combining rich local content and a vibrant local community" is at the core of what I see as a winning proposition. Also, let me ask you: what, in your mind, is the big opportunity on the Indian internet?

Re: Where’s the Big Opportunity in the Indian Internet Space?

@Shyam: Such angst!

Re: Where’s the Big Opportunity in the Indian Internet Space?

@Amit: A white-label SMS 2.0 platform is an interesting idea, but Zappatap needs a better UI.
