Yeah, I pretty much abandoned the plugin. Was too much work, for very little reward. As _why recently said: "programming is rather thankless. u see your works become replaced by superior ones in a year. unable to run at all in a few more." Glad others took up the flag.

I don't disagree about the numbers at all (in fact, it once again highlights how humans perceive numbers on a logarithmic scale, while thinking linearly) ... however, there is something symbolic about the way AIG is going about this that can be seen as an indicator of greater endemic corruption.

As a political tool, this particular case is one that is very easy to understand in cut and dry terms for the layperson. Trying to explain CDS traunches will cause other's eyes to glaze over, despite the fact that much worse abuse is happening there.

I've got a lot of custom script running on document ready that occasionally does weird things with the disqus code. With the non-compressed code, I could both debug as well as make whatever tweaks I need to get it working well (lazy loading, whatever).

I agree that I'm an outlier (and an outliner) but...

1. Pretty sure verisign wanted more than the domain name.

2. My traffic is nothing compared to many of the larger sites that came
later, and others made a lot more money than I did.

3. I hope it's clear my point is larger -- I'm not counseling people on
making money, I disclaimed that right up front. But a lot of people are
confused by the reasoning in Lyons's piece, it's a common refrain from MSM,
as if blogs were doing what they do. They are doing some sloppy thinking
there because blogs aren't. Blogs have value in their own right independent
of whether or not they are part of a money making venture.

Although you're correct Dave, you're a bit of an outlier.

You're one of the earliest bloggers out there, and your traffic is one of the highest around. Plus, you made over $2 million having the a valuable domain name, weblogs.com -- obviously there was value added, but the domain name itself is quite valuable and not something that's easily duplicated.

Spotted Pig was number 145 -- it was excellent. Lombardi's I went to in 2007 before I lived here.

Haven't tried Mesa Grill though -- I'll assume it's a recommendation and add it to the list :) You've been to NYC a bunch? You need to bring Mike out here!

Just the semi-annual changes to reflect the season. People were reporting errors with the old design when using IE, and since I couldn't figure out the problem I just switched themes entirely.
