Nor have they called him names", when in fact they have. And its not just the Sean Hannity's and Rush Limbaugh's joining in--actual Republican politicians are keeping up with the same kind of fear-mongering and smearing they did during the campaign itself.

Just yesterday Paul Broun, US Congressman from Georgia, told the Associated Press that "he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist or fascist dictatorship."

He went on to say that "That's exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it's exactly what the Soviet Union did..."

Not exactly the kind of bipartisan, work together to solve our very real economic problems cooperation we need. But, then again, the Republican party turned into fear mongerers during the election (which cost them the election), why expect them to change so fast?
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iRxZox4GFoIw...

Re: Our toxic culture wars

You're reading something into my post that's just not there. I don't, and more importantly, never mentioned hating Jim Scarantino. I want us as a society to take hate very seriously. This includes identifying where it exists, not responding with just knee-jerk reactions and avoiding false equivalencies ("Your side is hateful as well").

I'm not hateful, but truly scared of what public figures like Scarantino have done. I'm scared of the repercussions of so flippantly calling 45,000 Albuquerque citizens "un American".

Re: Our toxic culture wars

V.B. Price is one of the most genuinely nice and caring people I've ever meet. His concern for others, for Albuquerque, and for this state is something I can only hope to emulate on my very best days. When he is scared because of the hate pushed by local public figures like Jim Scarantino, I take it seriously. When he is worried how to diffuse the hate that comes from calling 45,000 Albuquerque citizens "un-American", I take it seriously.
