As I read it and teared up, I promised myself I'd write a letter to my mom even though she's deceased because she deserves so much credit for juggling so many tasks to give me and my sisters a phenomenal life even after she and my dad separated. I'm happy that you wrote this while your dad can enjoy it, and as the foreword to his book!

How wonderful to go on a tour of your home and learn about your family and everyday life. Thanks for the reminder to turn our focus to what we have to be thankful for, with family and health at the top of the list. Here in the US Thanksgiving is a big deal for many families, and then Black Friday sales can be a crazy time for many trying to snag bargains. Thankfully I’ve passed the phase where I let this time of year make me overdo everything. Years ago I stopped going to those Black Friday sales that start before sunrise.

I’m going to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family at my house. I’ll keep my focus on how blessed we are to live in a beautiful place and have the freedom to celebrate as we wish.

Too many features on our phones and other devices claim to make our lives easier, but are actually invasive and in some cases scary. We can't complain about the intrusions if we install and allow them. I'm with you: I choose what I want my phone to do.

Maria, thanks for sharing these great tools. I've enjoyed using Lumen5 and Ripl, but hadn't tried the others. I just created a video with Biteable, and even though it's cute, the monthly fee is more than I can justify spending. Besides, I'm OK with their name on the videos since they allow them to posted on my website, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Next I'll try Adobe Premiere Clip and Quik.

Thanks for this fantastic interview. Chalene's tips are right on time for me as I plan to change a local course into an online version. Her suggestions for using authentic language, arousing curiosity, and leaving gaps so people ask questions make so much more sense than the typical course-building advice. I especially LOVE the idea about making up a new and memorable phrase that will be associated with me and my program first. I used to get in trouble with my high school English teacher for making up words and phrases. Now I can have my fun with words and increase my profits too. Yay!

Wow! This post distracted me from my tasks for a while, but it was worth it. My favorites discoveries are FontJoy and Anchor. I just tried Anchor and learned that the transcipt needed editing since it didn't exactly recognize some words, and of course had trouble with names. I loved the ease of use, and will experiment with ways to best use it. Thanks to Sandra Beckwith at BuildBookBuzz for telling her group about it.

Hi Dave, thanks for sharing the benefits of Kindle Samurai. I need clarification: at the end of the video it says put your best keyword from the 7 we posted on the KDP page also in the title. Isn't this exactly what Amazon says DON'T do? Also, wouldn't we already have our books completed and titled before going to the KDP submission page or is this tool suggesting that we determine our keywords before creating our book's title.

Hi Melanie, you're so right that some rules just beg to be broken. Throughout my life I've done things my way and it has served me well. I don't consider myself a rebel either, and the rules I break don't seem that big of a deal to me, or result in any unicorns dying.

I used to have fun in school, for example, when the teacher insisted we write an outline first, get it approved by her, and then (and only then) write the final composition. For whatever reason I needed to write the full-blown composition first. My teacher didn't need to know. Then I would create my outline and turn it in. Once the teacher approved it, I just had to write the already-finished composition in my best penmanship and turn it in. Boy! I impressed my teachers by submitting the finished paper in record time. It gave me tremendous joy to break that rule!

I had already created my image in Canva and was about to send it on Hootsuite, but your tips on the image size, what to put in the caption, branding, and how to manually add a CTA in location were all spot on. I got that just from the highlights. Wow! Now I'm off to listen to the whole show. Thanks again.

These are great ways to ensure that we live a whole life and not one of work, work, work. I know that many of us enjoy our work so much that it doesn't always feel like work, but we need a break from it all the same. I enjoy following Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way where she offers practical tips that take us away from our work to reflect and refill our creativity. It works.
