No, there are no foldable screens, you always get a bezel, no matter how thin because of the hinge. The fold-out keyboard is exactly what I had in mind for tiny handhelds, and is great to pull out during a meeting or on the road when sudden;y a lot of typing is required, but you are still saddled with a tiny screen afterwards when real work has to be done. Traveling with an extra, rigid, durably packed, pretty light screen might seem strange, but then there were all these roadwarriors lugging whole projectors not too many years ago.

Re: My Browser Is A Mess

Call me when it actually runs outside of Windows then. I really do like the process separation and am waiting for it, but I do not use my Windows machine often.

As for how to manage web applications, this is a good start, but it may not be enough. I think it may be necessary for the browser to become smart enough to notice that a page on a tab has spawned multiple windows and that thus these windows+tab are essentially an app that should be registered with the Windowing shell with its own group and icon, yes, if that is even possible, or that avenues need to be explored. What I know now is that my browser has become very hard to manage because it is being used as an application platform. Chrome was explictly created to be the best application platform for web-apps. Well, it needs a little rethinking then, to find out what works better.

Re: My Browser Is A Mess

Actually, it isn't. First of all it only rund on Windows, and second, it still is hard to manage since the window entries get grouped together on Windows, and all have the same icon. It's still hard to manage.

Re: 300 DPI

Thank you, Pete.

Re: Checking Out Android's API

I have to admit I have only written J2ME apps for prototyping. There are BT headsets that will switch between two devices so you can pair a phone and a music player, and when the phone rings the headset will switch the music player off. Maybe the headste for multiple concurrent streams will need multiple BT receivers, or a new standard will have to be added to the ever-evolving BT standard.

As for the usability of it, almost every phone source has a distinct ring, or the user can set one. Music and computer beeps would be an issue to be mixed in. Right now of course I have all those conurrent sources running, but since I do not use a headset for them I have the direction of the sound telling me where it is from and what it signifies. However, mail chimes, messaging and chat chimes, printer chimes, and errors are distinct so this might not be a problem. I think we just have to try.

Re: BT Headsets Stumble On

Obviously what I need are more phones to play with. As a (used to be) developer I'd have to think hard whether I'd want to make apps quickly for Android and Apple that have sane programming models vs the scream that is Symbian. Symbian systems lock up less and allow concurrent execution, but that doesn't matter for a developer trying to get people to buy.
