I've long held that the people who run hate sites are ridiculous, obsessive, and just plain freaky. Creating a hate site is inherently beyond legitimate criticisms: it's a whole fucking site dedicated to hating a person or another site. There's nothing genuinely legit in dedicating a whole site to just to participate in hate. That's obsessive and creepy. It becomes hate for sport and what the fuck kind of person devolves to that? If you dislike a site, just leave. Don't go back. Ignore. I've been doing that, until now, to their asinine bullshit.

I've been at Liss and Iain's house more than once. Their house is not filth. They're genuinely awesome people, as are the other mods here. More over, they're people who don't deserve targeted harassment and abuse.

If you change your "single" status to "seeing someone" but DO NOT change "what you're looking for" (as long as what you're looking for lists "long term dating" and/or "short term dating" and/or "casual sex"), you should show up as available. That's how I did it. If you only have "activity partners" or "new friends" listed, it won't have you as "available".

Yeah, it can be disconcerting to have happen. Thankfully most people who do send creepy and/or outright propositioning messages seem to be one-offs, in that they message once and if you don't respond, they tend to go away never to be heard from again. Not everyone but most of them.

All in all I've found it very rewarding. I've gone out with some really awesome people and while only very few of them have become (or may become) partners, I have made some really cool new friends.

The one thing I wonder about--and I meant to put this in the post--is that I'm pretty used to the horrible side of internet interactions so it generally doesn't phase me much anymore (which is pretty sad, right?). I really feel for people who may not have a way to process experiencing that sort of crap. It has to be really scary for some people, I'd think.

TERFs and MRAs are no different in that they both want to uphold the same boxes built on rigid bullshit that serve to support their chosen worldview (which generally promotes to uphold whatever amount of privilege they derive from said position).

IOW, the anti-trans bigoted views are pretty much the same from both directions.

I think A Dragonfly in Amber is the weakest of the series but it's still very important and is, overall, a good book in and of itself.

Book 8 comes out in December! :)
