My one comment would be that BusySync is not neccessary. A great free product (that I've been using for a while to keep my work calendars on Google synced to my iPhone) that would do the same thing is Calgoo Connect<a/ rel="nofollow">. I would strongly recommend it to anyone.

I'm sure that native google syncing will come eventually to iCal (it's technically there now, but there are LOTS of issues), until then CalGoo gets it done for free.

Re: Like father, like daughter?

That's hilarious!

Re: Tell Me Thursday: Not now Papa, I’m tweeting

Hilarious. Our 15 month old is the same way. He now has a collection of three "play" remotes, two real remotes no longer in use, two "toy" cellphones and two discarded cellphones (mom and dad's old ones). None of them are nearly as interesting as the ones we continue to use.

I thought I'd keep some videos on my iPhone for when we have to sit at the doctor's office or such, but they don't work. He doesn't care nearly as much for watching the phone as he does grabbing it and shoving part of it into his mouth. Not good when you're talking about a $200 piece of tech.

You'll love the iPhone, though. Well worth the provider switch.

Re: To my son on your first birthday

Great post, I wrote a similar one for my son's 1st in January.

http://bit.ly/19N8Hu

Really enjoying your blog. You've got a long-timer on your hands and you've spent your great name.

My childhood name for my "future/unborn/gleam-in-my-eye" son was Blaze Hendrix. Yeah, I had inferiority issues because my name was Joel. Happily, with the help of my wife, I overcame the desire to name my son Blaze. But I am on my way right now to the Build-a-bear Workshop to pick up little Blaze Hendrix!

Re: Bits of Randomness

“This is my body, which I have ground up into a patty and grilled for you. Thoughts on Food?

Why is that the ability to crawl is generally accompanied by the habit of dropping massive amounts of gooey food on the floor?

Earlier, and it wouldn't have mattered so much because the baby would be trying to crawl around in the food before you clean it up. Later, and the baby would be walking through the food so as to only dirty her feet.

Nope, you've got the mess all over them from the meal itself, and then once you get them clean, they roll around in their discarded leftovers before you can dispense with them.

No fair.

Re: Yay, It’s Bath Time!

"At first, it was mostly items that we already had in the kitchen that happened to float – cups, sponges, old cans filled with bacon fat for example."

Congratulations. I was enjoying what seemed to be a perfectly lovely account of a weekend spent outdoors with family (avoiding death by pachederm, and marauding bands of DNA re-combinated miniture dinosaurs etc.), then you went and blew it all by clearly showing that you're just making this stuff up.

A "Walkman"? Really? No one's carried a walkman (much less rollerbladed with one) since '94. Do a little research before you try to pull a fast one on us, huh, buddy?

Psshh. Walkman!

Re: A Mouth Forever Babbling

Ooh! Yeah, we've just entered the "talk-back" phase. Little Man is still not monologuing, but he's more than capable of delivering a deft "No" in response to our queries about his willingness to do any particular thing that is good for him, but not necessarily fun for him.

That said, the first time that those babbles become words directly associated with baby's surroundings is a particularly awesome moment. I never imagined that "cow" would make my heart skip a beat, but it did.

Re: What Constitutes a Date, Anyway?

Really enjoyed this. It's completely true too. My wife and I got to spend time with friends this weekend (who were also moving, oddly enough) and we were thinking many of the same things.

My aunt is in town and I think tonight we're going to leave her with little man and sneak out to play with our friends for a while. Good times can still be had!
