in Alright, enough waiting. on Digital Brainwaves
Bah. It is too much of an indicator how frustrated I am with the slowness of the bureaucracy in my own international relationship that I never even considered it might be an April Fool's joke.
At least I have a very real and very valid excuse for thinking it was true.

Woohoo! Married man this weekend! I know exactly how frustrating it is, but ya gotta realize that you've still got about another nine months or so before you can be together. That's about how long it takes to get the visa. Fill out your paperwork NOW! You'll want to mail it as soon as you have a copy of the marriage certificate.

Let me know if they vote Luke Menard off the island? He's a good kid in a local a cappella group, Chapter 6. I'd like to see him do well, but I don't has time to watch de show (I gotta practice derby).

No offense, but having not seen those particular debate/interviews, the evidence that there's double-speak going on is kind of flimsy as although she'll directly mention the subject in question in the first clip, Social Security for example, she does not directly mention the subject again in any of the subsequent clips with the dubious exception of the first. This could well be nothing more than a clever editing job, attributing a specific opinion to the wrong subject. That sort of think irks me.

in Ask Me Weekend #5: How’s my sweetie? on Digital Brainwaves
Yeah, I may be in the same boat, not that I'm complaining overly. I said I never wanted to get married again because I don't want to go through the legal crap of it all and I really still don't. However, I also said the one reason I'd do it again would be to bring somebody into the country. Just my luck I fall for a Brit....

And as I was driving home yesterday, I heard an advert for a morning radio program wherein one of the deejays predicted that the Bears would win if Phil saw his shadow.
Suck.

Hmm...that just might be a Conservative I could get behind. I never really knew of Guiliani's accomplishments, but I must say that I agree with just about all of them.
Well, we still have two more years of the Puppet President. If he's really that great, somebody or other will have him assassinated, or attempt to, before the elections. I think I'll sit back and watch the fun.

Aha. So this was a humor piece that I didn't get because I was unfamiliar with the character.
TV rots your mind, you know. That's why I don't watch much of it. :)

Well, I guess Bushie-boy doesn't quite count as "military" but last I checked, throwing a "negotiator" at people who aren't planning on listening to a word he says is just a tad futile....

Which just goes to prove that the phrase "military intelligence" is still an oxymoron....

in Step back, diamonds… on Digital Brainwaves
Women have learned that toys are better than things. And then quite a number of us have become less materialistic in general. A ring of silver and cut quartz would mean more to me than a ring of gold and diamond because it would mean that my partner truly understands me. I make jewelry after all, why would I want to wear something that would effectively put me in the position of competing with myself?

Spoken like an asshole.
This isn't a first track event. This is Indy. This is the race that everybody wants to win because it means so much more than your average race. Guys come out of retirement just for a shot at winning this one. Historically, people have put together teams JUST for this event and for no other race in the series, just for a shot at the brass ring, the glory, the money, and their face immortalized on the Borg-Warner trophy.
It may be said that second place is first loser, but it still remains that to be a rookie and run that well at Indy is a serious achievement and the fact that he just up and discarded it only shows that he's an arrogant bastard, just like his dad. No driver should ever be satisfied with second place or else they shouldn't be racing, but to dismiss such an achievement as a 19-year-old rookie at such a prestigious event is just the height of arrogance. His head's too big for the rest of him. And apparently, so's yours.

Yeah, I was watching the interview and I thought that was a pretty assinine thing to say. It's his first Indy and he nearly won it. He should have been emotional and happy that he made it that far and did that well, which is something most rookies don't do. What a fucktard.

in Driving into history? on Digital Brainwaves
Champ Car has Black drivers every now and again and it's not so big a deal. Usually with open-wheel, it's women that are a big deal. We've got one this year who won several races in her prior series (Atlantics), which none of the women coming up through the ranks has done yet. Unlike in the IRL (and presumably NASCAR), there's no big She-Can't-Win-Cos-She's-A-Woman mentality so I think our Catherine Legge will do pretty well this year and hopefully win a race or two. Furthermore, having seen fiasco that was the "Danica 500" last year, I suspect Champ Car will keep Catherine at a much lower profile than that of Danica Patrick.
