in Lehman bankruptcy: In capitalism, failure is not a dirty word on OpenMarket.org
There is no doubt Lehman’s failure will be difficult for the firm’s employees, investors and others affected by the firms’ dealings.

Most if not all of whom, I presume, are registered voters, along with an untold number of loved ones and other associates who have a vested interest in Lehman's survival, and who would punish any politician or party they perceived as allowing Lehman fail. And there, it should go without saying, is the rub.

Eat your heart out, Michael Vick. Even with the millions of dollars you had before you got caught, your dogfighting ring was apparently small potatoes next to this one.

in The Coming Obama 'Theocracy' on Captain's Quarters Comments
Except that there's no church involved - Obama apparently thinks he can save souls through the power of the state itself.

Obama's campaign is on a huge roll now, but he sure seems bound and determined to go the way of the New England Patriots.

krome Of course there is a "church" - the church is the State. You've walked right into the point Light Wave made about Blue Staters not getting it. It is not a traditional "church" in that there is not supernatural Supreme Being/Creator - but it fills all of the roles of a church, so the Blue Staters like it without seeing it as a "church".

in Osama's Pen Pals on Captain's Quarters Comments
Does anyone else see the laughable irony of Osama sending a sympathy card?

Indeed, I thought that a jihadi being martyred was supposed to be cause for celebration and reverence among their lot, not condolence and sympathy letters. Sort of like the scene in Revenge of the Sith where Yoda advises Anakin not to fear, but welcome the death of a loved one, for she has "transformed into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not."

Then again, with advice like that coming from a Jedi Master, it's no wonder Anakin turned to the Dark Side. Maybe OBL is just trying to keep his own comrades from similarly wandering off the reservation.

Martin Luther King, Jr., perhaps the last of the true giants of American history.

Not just because of what he did, but because he was fortunate enough to have lived and died in the pre-Watergate era, before the media developed its voracious appetite for any hint of scandal or intrigue in our public figures. And don't be under the illusion that King, as a black civil-rights activist, would necessarily have gotten a pass from the MSM, had he lived to have to deal with them for a few more decades. Remember, he just happened to be a Baptist minister too - a Christian figure, and as such, suspect by the standards of the secular, transnational-progressive MSM.

If Hillary is this year's Howard Dean, I can't wait to see what her "scream" moment is.

in The Patriots Stay Unbeaten With Baltimore's Help on Captain's Quarters Comments
Actually they did that twice - in 2002 and 2005.

If you believe in omens, here are two in the Pats' favor. One, of course, is that this year's Dolphins are winless and may well finish the season that way. The other is that the stadium where the '72 Dolphins played, the Orange Bowl, is now vacant and about to be demolished.
