I'm glad I'm not the only one who's a bit frustrated here.

My beef is a bit different - I tried 3 different codes the other day and none of the them worked. All 3 seemed fine on this site, but no dice at the redbox. One of them said it was only for 1st time users. Has redbox restricted the codes now?

I've got to agree that this post is great! There are definitely a couple new blogs in my RSS reader.

Somehow I missed your podcast until now. I tried to find it through iTunes, but I was unable to. Am I nutty, or is it not in the library?

I'm going to be dumb now and ask how else I can subscribe with iTunes. Any ideas?

This is a great post! Sometimes I feel like half of my waking hours are devoted to avoiding meetings. So little gets done there. The worst is when you're telecommuting and people want to drag you into the office for a "necessary" meeting. Fun!

Ben, I love the post. I was an early adopter of Preview Anywhere. I thought it might add some pizazz to my blog.

Needless to say, I ditched it after a week or so. Funnily, this was even before the top bloggers started to complain about it. I just didn't see value to it, and I've been trying to simplify the blog overall.

I really think you're onto something about overwhelming new readers with too many options. If you're really new to RSS, you'll probably end up using a mainstream aggregator. Thus, perhaps you could just provide the top 3 aggregators as options.

I like this article. I have toyed with modifications for my subscription system (big orange icon, w/ email option below). I'm curious what the "best practices" are as well.

Personally, I feel that regular blog readers probably have bookmarklets or other simple ways to subscribe to blogs they like. Thus, is any subscribe icon necessary?

Other users, who may not be familiar w/ RSS, probably would benefit from the icon & subscription invitation. Thus, how can we make it easiest for these people? Your solution seems pretty good. You educate people w/ your link & make it easy to subscribe to the user's reader of choice. I don't know what would be better.
