in Salem shuts down squalid house Naked toddler found in street led to discovery on The Eagle-Tribune
There are vast differences in Bipolar illness. There is the bipoar every one is familiar with, either manic or depressed
with varying degrees of each of those symptoms in each individual. there is also bipolar with schizoaffective symptoms. The world for these sad folks is a nightmare of visual auditory and olfactory hallucinations WITH the mania or depression. Untreated this disease wreaks havoc on everyone the ill person is involved with. So bipoar in itself is way different than that. we don't know what her diagnosis is, that being said no child anywhere in THIS country should ever have to live in the rancid conditions these poor kids lived in.If that was my sister and those were her kids I'd kich the sh.t out of her and physically remove those kids from that environment and say come get em. If enough people called the authorities day in and day out you can bet your sweet azz those kids would be removed. Its not a call, or a "few" THAT is unacceptable. waiting till a disgusting thing like this happens is sick in itself. What if that poor baby had been killed running lose like that?/Would the family say they wished they had done more then??? when it come to our kids neglect, mistreatment, abuse is unacceptable.Again; some people just should NOT be allowed to breed.

vwjetta What you posted about the disease Bipolar is pretty far off. The only factual part of your post is that the disease effects everyone involved in the person's life. From someone who has been diagnosed by several highly qualified psychiatrists and who has studied and understood nearly every part of it, I can assure you that what you posted is pretty off.

Bipolar's are people who can sway both ways (down and up.) A unipolar is someone who can only sway one way (only down or only up.)

Mania is the term used for the up part of the illness. When a person goes manic (up) they feel like they are on top of the world. They feel like the are untouchable and they will involve themselves in extremely risky behavior, thinking that they are invincible. Hallucinations are NOT part of being bipolar. Hallucinations are what happens with Schizophrenia and other serious psychotic disorders. Bipolars do not see things that are not real, unless they have a more serious psychiatric disorder like Schizophrenia. Bipolar is merely a drastic change in mood (both up and down.)

Then there is rapid cycling with some Bipolars, where the mood can change from manic (up) to normal or to depression (down) in a matter of minutes or even seconds, constantly cycling throughout the day.

Minor changes in Bipolar lives, or what may seem like minor events are far more dramatic on a Bipolar person. If medicated properly by a Doctor, and if a person with the disease doesn't self-medicate (the biggest problem with Bipolar's) they typically can live a completely successful life like a normal person.

I know about the system when it comes to menatl illness and sadly Kathy is right. Its almost impossible to get someone committed. Scizophrenics have an uncanny ability to pull themselves together for a short time when the pressure is on. It doesnt last; it can't. Thats mental illness. I don't understand how ANY parent can allow their kids to live in those filthy disgusting conditions these kids were forced to live in .If the father was "the sane one" why the hell didnt he get those kids and himself out of there? THEN she would have been commited because she wouldnt be able to take care of herself; obviously she didn't take care of her kids. Those kids should NEVER be allowed back in that mothers care.EVER. If she becomes habilitated there is no guarentees she wont crack again and its obvious the families involved were enabling her. They could have enabled her to cause her children great physical and emotional harm. THAT is just wrong. Why didn't any one in the family remoce those kids from that barberic uncivilized atmosphere?/ KNOWING there was feces and bad food all over the house no one took the kids out PERMANANTLY???? The father allowed his kids to live in squalor and decay???he may have worked 2 jobs to try to make "ends meet" but he let his kids live in disgusting inexcusable conditions with an insane mother caring for them. He should be charges as well because we KNOW her plea will be mental illness. whats HIS excuse???there is NO excuse for this. NONE

in Police and firefighters pull drowning man from North Andover pond on The Eagle-Tribune
The police and firefighters are heros. I don't know the North Andover officers at all but God Bless them.
When I was in high school and a few years after that my friends and I often went swimming in the Wilmington sand Pits and The antiballistic missle sight in ??North Andover or Boxford. Of COURSE there were signs posted not to go there but we went anyways. Pomps Pond was legal and available but we wanted adventure and we got it. We used to go swimming in Pomps pond before and after the season as well with signs posted. Unfortunately Mr Salazar-Lopez had a near drowning doing the same. Our only misfortune back in the day was my friend getting her head cut open by a rock in the water. Did we go back? Yes.Were we stupid? Yes. Have any of you ever done this as well? Yes. I hope this man is ok. He only did what many many before him has done. Wrong perhaps but he didnt kill anyone . He wanted a nice day with his family is all,

Weve had many discussions on marijuana and the harm it doesnt cause people, They deserve to be arrested of course; its against the law and if people want that law to be changed, which I believe it will some day then go for it. Until then its against the law and those kids needto be punished for breaking the law, It doesnt cause men to rape their daughters though now does it.

Hin was a typo for hon. You're right commentard. Sylvanna IS trying hard to get her message across. And she is really one of the very very few that has given any kind of explanation for barberic behaviors. I apologize to you Sylvanna. You seem like a true lady that cares deeply for her roots, family, and values
One of the ONLY hispanic woman that has class. from the postings I've seen in the tribune.

in Remember Route 110 when it was the only way to the beach? on The Eagle-Tribune
LA Woman most of everything that was mentioned is gone. Where oirates park was is now Condos and where Shaheens was is a dumpy parking lot. All the rides are gone although you can still get fried dough, pizza meat pie and such when you drive in to salisbury beach itself. and goodies on the way to and from salisbury and Hampton.

LOl Dom you're right. Where Market basket; Kohls' payless shoes is. across from Den Rock in North Andover is where the drive in was. The Georgetown drive in was off limits. All the kids used to go play on the swings they had way up by the screen until the movie started. The speakers sometimes were broken and we'd drive around looking for the perfect speaker. Lot of good memories back in the day. People were preety much safe then.

Mom we have the same memories. Markeys was and still is across from Browns. I don't know why but when I go to the beach thses days I can't smell the ocean driving in. The beach is eroding of course. There is no more straight flat walk to the water, its up on a litlle hill now and you walk down the hill to reach it. I loved the rides at Shaheens and the walk down the center. It's sad to see all those games places and stores run down and boarded up now. Eventually Salisbury will be a village of condos. Tripolis and Christies is still there however so that "beach pizza" and fried dough are alive and well.I take a ride down there in the winter; sadly in the summer it's trashy now but it's getting built back up in a different way with the condos.

McSouthie, seeing that big whale then the rollercoaster was our knowing we were FINALLY there! And the smell of the salt air on that stretch of the road. We were plunked at the exact same spot for many many years. My mother had a cooler full of food and all our friends and family knew where to find us. Late afternoon we'd hit Footes for the onion rings with the straw in the middle. We'd ride home
the long way" route 133 and stop at Bensons Ice Cream stand. That's still there too. We'd get home; unpack and if it was a Sat night my parents would take us to the 114 drive in in N. Andover. What wonderful memories.

No ctigh we ALL have most certainly NOT have been there, That topic has been written about multiple times. And we don't ALL "for the most part" love our children . We dont ALL put little ones in a room, no one knows if this child was put to bed; and leave them alone. I don't understand why no one complained about the conditions in this place. And KNOWING the conditions why anyone would put their child in jeapordy.A building "infested with rats cockroaches and bedbugs" and no one complained ???I have no idea how you can even get rid of those infestations but I do know bedbugs cause bites and rats cause diseases.Once bedbugs are in every mattress has to go. Now who is going to begin to pay for thatcockroach infestation fumigation . I have no clue how you get rid of rats. This slumlord is negligently pathetic allowing these conditions KNOWING little kids and handicapped kids are in there. WHY didn't the tenants complain??? I'm not saying anything is their fault; I know thats next but to live in those conditions with babies and little ones is horrid. The plus in this story is the little girl is improved. God willing she will be ok.

i love the fireworks. Mt Grandfather was a veteran of WW1 and lived in the Veterans Projects when he got old. now known as the stadium projects. We used to watch the fireweorks every 4th of juy at the stadium. The military bands would march into the stadium and everyone would get up and cheer for the,. there was always a girls and boys bike raffal. Ground fireworks from the bleachers that were actual "moving pictures" like a cannonball fireing; the American flag displayed in firworks colored red white and blue; Sadly that will never be again because the city has no money. Wonder where all that money went.....Anyways the bottom line here is this kid killed his so called best friend. He will pay for it and God rest Deidres soul. Her dying should not have happened but it did. And when she was dying sge saw who killed her.Her best friend. He will go to jail and thats wherehe belongs. There is no acceptable excuses for this "mistake" You people need to realize that many mistakes aren't excusable. Thye cause damage and they cause death.

I have also stated many times in many differernt places that the KIDS of ANYONE should not be made to suffer for their so called parents stupidity. It's PARENTS who supposedly raise their kids that determine what that kid is likely to turn out to be like. Once the kid reaches adulthhood and starts to make their own choices then all bets are off. THEY are responsible for their own choices. I don't care what nationality someone is when it comes to useless parents. Kids are innocent and dont deserve to be harmed or neglected by lazy useless negligent parents. What took you so long to come up wut that ,,whydoucare???
