in Holly & Hammie’s Sleepover on Territorial Bloggings
Awww! Both my husband and I agree that would love to have a boxer IF we didn't already have our very large Black Labrador (105lbs at ideal weight, but keeps aiming for 110). Great photos! I love image 1394 - there's some good dialogue going on in that photo!

This is my favorite kind of blog post, at least once in a while.

I know what you mean. I can't stay away from it myself (obviously...).

in I was wrong on Territorial Bloggings
I hate to say it, but I've already started watching Fox News again. I haven't watched it in six years, but I simply couldn't stand the gushing, emotional, near-flirtatious manner in which so-called veteran professional journalists were going on and on about the Obama win.

Whoa. But she did get her desired result: emotions, all choked up. Isn't that true religion, after all?

That was a very honest post...honesty that is balanced with hope.

Thanks TK, I appreciate that. I always try to be honest in what I write here, though sometimes I know I err too far on the side of smart-assedness. In all seriousness, though, it's a tough line, being honest while not (unnecessarily) antagonizing or being offensive. It makes the writer's job much more difficult, even as it ends up making the reader's job more pleasant.

I have always thought that if you can do something, do it to the best of your ability. And if you are very good at something, enjoy it and do very well...it is to God's glory!
To me, baseball is such the opposite of hockey. I'm glad for baseball season. It gives my son's body a rest and my mind a break.

in Confusion Over Calling on ETC: Everyday Thoughts Collected
I'm feeling happily guilty that I have been praying for you to realize that you might not be called to celibacy! The great thing is the God knows what He wants for you and no one can get in the way of it, especially when you live your life at the foot of the cross like you do. I am very happy for you...happy that you are happy! My husband and I recently celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary. I highly recommend marriage.

I haven't been to many museums, but my favorite is the Art Institute of Chicago. I think that I could visit there once a week and never really absorb all the beautiful art.

in Today is my Re-Birth Day on ETC: Everyday Thoughts Collected
Your special day is a reminder to all that God sent Jesus as our substitute for our sins and began to draw us to Himself through the Holy Spirit and the Word over 2000 years ago. And He's STILL pulling and drawing us to Him.
He already started the work and gives us faith to enable us to believe. Truly, our only confidence can be in Jesus Christ. I, for one, am thankful that you, Randy, cling to Christ crucified on the cross daily. There is no other place that gives us such hope and joy!

in Resting, Watching … Chill on ETC: Everyday Thoughts Collected
My 14 year old son loves Band of Brothers. He is fascinated by stories of soldiers and their experiences. Hopefully, he won't know such things in his life, but I prepare him anyway.
On PBS last night, they showed the Memorial Day tribute to veterans. It was a very moving concert, with firsthand stories of veterans and songs written about vets. Just beautiful. We are planning a trip to DC in August and it made me really excited to go.

in $31.33 on ETC: Everyday Thoughts Collected
Randy, my 2001 Ford Windstar (yeah, I'm a minivan mom) is running close to $70.00 to fill (per week). When I bought the car four years ago, I had budgeted $40.00 a week. Needless to say, I'm way over budget. Ouch! I can't even sell the van because I have another year of payments. Ouch again! I'm already planning to buy a very fuel-efficient car in one year. It helps a little to know that other countries are paying much more, but that knowledge doesn't pay the price at the pump.

in Idol Confession on ETC: Everyday Thoughts Collected
I'm glad you said this because I've been struggling with embarrassment. It doesn't help to have two teenagers who accuse me of being obsessed with the show. Why do they say that? Because I make a point to watch it each week. That's obsession to them. I can't win!
