It will be deflationary because of a lack of demand in the economy, or a demand shock as economists call it.

Inflation is an excess of demand in the economy. If policymakers over shoot and stimulate the economy too much we'll have inflation.

At the start of the Depression policymakers didn't realise or didn't believe you could spend your way out of a recession/depression and thus did not attempt to. Massive government spending in response to the Second World War ended the Depression and convinced policy makers they could spend their way to prosperity.

Policy makers know they can avoid a recession by spending and stimulating the economy. The do not in normal circumstances due to the risks of sparking inflation like we had in the 70's.

Today we are not in a normal economic downturn. Policymakers know this around the world and are acting accordingly by spending and stimulating the economy.

I'd like to clarify my original comment. I am an optimist. I think we are going to be alright. I see inflation becoming a problem if we are able to contain this economic situation. Inflation will will occur if things aren't that bad and/or gov'ts over react.

I don't necessarily see a little inflation as a bad thing in the short term. But there are risks.

If I am wrong and gov'ts around the world aren't able to contain this situation, then inflation will be the least of our worries.

Your thoughts?

Re: Flip Video Headaches, Problems, Customer Support Idiots, etc.

My flip camera worked beautifully for 8 months, but now it refuses to turn on! If there is a number I call them.

Auto-responders to me are not very personal or professional. That said I so use them when I go on vacation (11 days and counting!) but only as means to let people know about my absence.

In this market, having people around to do that stuff is expensive.

I call my web leads right away and I get a good response. That said I am more of a phone guy than an email guy.

Re: What are Your Real Estate Marketing Plans for 2009?

Planning is everything!

Speaking of which, when are you planning to come to Canada?

Re: How Gary Vaynerchuk built a multi-million dollar empire around a video blog

Gary has pioneered a completely new way to communicate with potential consumers by positioning himself as an unbiased resource on the products he sells.

I love it!

Re: Top 5 Twitter plugins to incorporate into your blog

Very Cool!

I'm going to get this stuff on my blog!

Re: People are sending in their fabric for the big surprise!

You have the coolest real estate videos online!

I wish I got my piece of fabric in!

Re: Phoenix Real Estate Investment Firm “Blindsided” by Home Price Declines.
