in Makena Cove Sunset on The Image Geek
That was indeed a magnificent sunset! I remembered taking a quick shot of it and posted t on twitter, then realized a lot of people are posting photos of that sunset from facebook to flickr to twitter.

These shots you did are awesome! You are a very talented photographer.

BTW, thanks for the modeling tips. My photos will never look the same ;)

in Facebook? Up 10%. Twitter? Up 16%. FriendFeed? Flat on Scobleizer
Coming from a just a "wannabe geek" but not quite a geek I'd say the reason I don't use FF yet is "the UI still is too geeky and sparse and not controllable enough.". I have a blog, I am active at Twitter but I still am not geeky enough to figure out how cool and easy it is to use FF. Maybe if you can find a way to make it easier for us the non geekies or just wannabe geekies then it would rise up and not be flat.

Aloha,
Liza

in Bing Now Bigger than Digg, Twitter and CNN on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
could it be that people are curious and are still checking it out therefore the surge? At any rate, I love Bing for bringing my blog A Maui Blog first on the search engine when you search the word Maui Blog :) .. I know, self promo here - sorry ;)

I guess we'll have to watch this BING closely and see what happens in the next months. Thanks for this report.

AP Absolutely my take on why the traffic was so high in the first month!. I'm actaully testing the waters from time to time and binging it when I'm curious about search results. I guess that means the new campaign is working. I never even gace Microsoft a second thought until now.

I still like other search engines though like: crowdseye, collecta.

in The Case for Public Replies on Twitter (... or at least the .@ convention) on This is going to be BIG!
Good points you mentioned. For me however, that hiding works because many of my followers probably don't want to see ALL my twitterings. I tweet a lot and it maybe too much for others if they see all my replies to people they don't know or care about. It really depends on how we use Twitter and why we use it. I like the way you found a solution for you (the dot before the @).

in Hawaii’s Graduation Tradition on Hawaii Traditions
I am glad you posted about the graduation tradition on Hawaii here in your blog. I had been wanting to write a post on it but didn't get a chance.

One of my favorite part of the tradition is the exhange of leis and the graduates' head gets buried in the lei :) - just like in the photo here :)

Jan Hi Liza!
Thanks so much for stopping by and for your kind words :). The more I write about all things Hawaii, the more I get a chance to stop and reflect about this culture that I too often take for granted. Beautiful blog, by the way! I'll be stopping by for future reads for sure :).

in For Discussion! What Makes Your Favorite Island In Hawaii Unique? on So Much More Hawaii Tour
Maui! Maui! :) :) :)

Actually, the only island I've been aside from Maui is Oahu so my choice is between the two. I grew up in a big city, but now that I am living in a more rural island, I love it.

One tourist I met said Maui is the in-between of Oahu and Kauai, and so if there's only one island you can go to on Hawaii, go to Maui (of course I am partial ;)

I would love to visit all of the islands someday. How about a "so much more of Hawaii" part 2 wherein HTA will use local Hawaii Bloggers - bring us to different islands - just a thought ;)

in For Discussion! It’s Aloha Friday, How Do People Spend Their Weekends In Hawaii? on So Much More Hawaii Tour
OK, I am back.

Typical weekend, Saturday morning extra curricular activities (dance class, taekwondo, etc) or chores (laundry, yardwork and gardening etc.) - Then afternoon is relaxation - beach, or hang out at home in the pool. Sometime b-day parties of friends, etc.

Sunday, church in the morning and then beach, pool, frineds' house or bookstore :)

Funny you asked.... the month of May had been crazy, weekends are not the usual weekend we have throughout the year! So.... I will get back to comment futher. I just want to mention that the last 3 weekends we had in May were vey busy - lots of fun activities like going to a fair, spring recital show etc.... now for the more regular weekends, I'd ba back for that :)

in For Discussion! - Tips For Traveling To Hawaii on So Much More Hawaii Tour
SUN SCREEN, sun screen and SUN SCREEN - especially at this time of the year. My kids got sunburned the other day. we spent the whole day at the beach on Memorial Day. I tell yah, it won't be fun to get sun burned on your vacation so - get sunblock, shades for your eyes, hats, sun screen for your lips and if possible get those rush guards too (we sometimes call them sunshirts)

in Develop Better Social Media Habits | Good Plum on Good Plum
A few years back we have decided to cut TV network. I didn't mid it at all. True, we're missing LOST but that's alright with me ;)

I have a Facebook account but I use it the way you mentioned here. I don;t do those gift exchange stuff, etc. The only reason I joined is because most of our church friends joined and it's nice to hear what's going on in their lives as well as share some of what's going on in mine.

Now, my favorite at this time is TWITTER. I find it easy, less time consuming and effective in business networking. It works well for me.

Thanks for this post. I think it's a helpful guideline on social media networking :)

Aloha,
Liza
