Is there any difference in the FCC reporting on the two transactions. Obviously selling the stock then doing a distribution shows as a major share holder selling. How does a distribution show in the reporting?

Having been through this a venture backed, eventually public company you would think I could remember, but I don't. Its really only an issue when support for the stock isn't great, but I know from experience when a company is struggling registered sales by a 20% owner can be paaaaiiinful..

Thanks again, great post..

Re: drew olanoff dot com. - are you lijit?

Drew, thanks for the comment. We are working day and night to make results more relevant in all situations. We agree its way to hard to add OPML files at this point (although it can be done). Look for changes in the next week. We are committed to working with Google as a partner and we have had good discussions with them over the last week concerning some of the issues you mention.

Re: Lijit Alpha? – Google Custom Search Engine Is Not Currently Suitable For Site Search

Andy, thanks for looking at Lijit. Its you number one feedback mechanism from your readers. I wrote about this a while back and I hope to get comments on it :-)

http://falseprecision.typepad.com/my_weblog/200...

Re: louisgray.com: Making My Blog Search Legit With Lijit

Tony,

A couple of notes. about 30% of page views on most blogs come directly from people clicking through from search engines.. With Lijit stats you can see this stat as "page views with research". So basically those readers generally don't have much location affinity with your publication. Second, geo-location of readers is not an exact science. Lijit is partnered with Quova for this data and they are generally the most accurate source of this information. However, large companys with VPN's or ISPs that aggregate their traffic through super proxies can make the data look wrong from time to time.. Hope this helps !

Re: Google Friend Connect Review

Pat,

We would be glad to help you with Lijit. A great example, I have a friend that recently purchased a mountain property. I don’t believe he is an expert on Mountain properties however the two of us share certain aspects of our personality that would lead me to believe that whatever road he walked down to find the property he ended up with be of huge value to me in my own search.

Lijit ( http://www.lijit.com ) provides the facebook capability outlined in Aditya’s post ( http://blog.facebook.com/blog.php?post=2535632130 ), but we do it on the wide open web. In the above example I went to my friends blog and entered “Keystone”, knowing from his previous posts that he had purchased a property there. The results I get back from Lijit include the posts he made about the property, his del.icio.us bookmarks relating to his search including the real-estate agent he used. Also included were photos of his property from his wife uploaded to her flickr account that were brought into the search via the linkage between his blog, hers, and then out to her photos. All automatically.

It’s a powerful concept, and I believe the idea of being able to relocate the search locus is powerful for Facebook in the same way it is powerful to Lijit. People are the ultimate metadata.

Re: 2008/08/05/what-google-should-learn-from-startups/

Thanks for the mention and the recognition.

Lijit knows that service and value to our publishers is a major differentiator that we can and will provide. Google is an amazing success story (and a great partner of ours), but i can imagine it becomes increasingly more difficult for them to provide the personal touch that is lacking in the internet space.

It's just the challenge of "getting big", really, really big!

Todd Vernon / CEO Lijit

Re: Lijit Throws Ads Onto My Site

Chris,

The My Content section and the re-search box both work toward the discovery aspect rather then search. I think both are useful depending on the context of the publisher. Personally i suspect most pubs get more value out of re-search (although based on this thread many don't know it)..

Just to fan the flames, the single most valuable feature of lijit in terms of 'behaviour' is actually the search cloud feature that you don't currently use. This creates discovery traffic up to 10 times the volume of a normal search box. More readers find more stuff they didn't even know they were interested in. Just an FYI

@Mack, thanks for the comments as well. We are in the middle of a site redesign and are going to describe re-search better as a result. Ad placements will much better described as the Ad Network and publisher revenue sharing is a big focus in the coming months..

-Todd

Re: Lijit Throws Ads Onto My Site

Chris,

We huddled up this afternoon and decided that our short test of running ad units in the re-search box was not properly messaged to our publisher base. We have always run Ad’s next to search results on search pages since inception of the service (18 months). The search page ad unit is fairly expected as this is the standard behavior for Google Custom Search as well. In testing for our upcoming Publisher Ad Network release, we ran a little too fast testing the Re-Search ad unit without messaging it properly to our publishers.

As a result we have stopped testing the re-search Ad unit on publisher sites. It will return as an opt-in component of publisher revenue sharing.

Publisher trust is a major concern of ours and we were just a little too heads down banging out code on this one and it got away from us.

Todd

Re: Happy birthday Lijit!

Awesome post Dan.
