I can not stand Tara Wall (repulican strategist)!!!!
It's not because she is a Black or a Repub (personally can't stand Carville, or Hilary Rosen that much) . What I can't stand is that whenever she speaks it's alway with this very unbecoming smirk. Particularly when she is saying some Republican talking points.

You know what bothers me about Tara and her ilk?
It's not like they're representing anyone? If they were on tv at the level that they're actually in the Black community, we wouldn't see ANY of them.

May I recommend a good hair weavist to Tara?

I live in Dallas, and I don't know if Air America in on here. Plus, I word early morning to the afternoon, so I rarely have time to listen to the radio (besides which, I only have a clock radio in my bedroon).
At my job, while there are a number of Democrats, it's a hospital, so I don't usually listen to talk radio, unless it's one of those top 40 types. I usually listen to my IPOD.
I really only watch TV from 5: 30 to 6:30am, I TIVO most of the shows I did watch

There is an Air America affiliate in Dallas, and it's an AM station, KMNY AM 1360. It's the only one in Texas.
This is their website, Rational Radio.
They have two brothers in their line-up, Jack Bishop and Tunde Obazee, along with Ed Schultz, Randi Rhodes and Thom Hartmann, who is really, I think, deep.
Get yourself a CD player with AM/FM radio; or do you still have one? You can get a little stereo radio with headphones....for less than $20

So I've decided to give up on political news shows. It's time to ween myself off of them.
No more MSNBC, Morning Joe, or Situation Room. Gonna just get my news from online, and JJP.
The sad part is I actually like to watch the shows, but they get so stupid sometimes. I can't stand it. Like MSNBC, I like Olbermann, but sometimes he can be too much. Morning Joe when Scar is not on, is actually okay, and I actually like the Situation Room, but Ed Henry just irritates me. The best thing about CNN, is Cafferty and Jeannie Moost.
Anyway, is there any other news programs that ya'll recommend that just gives the straight news. I beginning to really like BBC America, but of course, it really just news from the world with an "American" twist.
I hear PBS, has good shows??

I have found that it's sometimes better not to watch tube in the morning, but listen to the radio.
There's PBS' Morning Edition.
Me, I listen to the line-up at my local Air America station. I listen to Stephanie Miller until 11, and then listen to Ed Schultz between 11 and 2. Stephanie has her Mooks, and has a Friday show with two black sistas, Frangela, who are comedians. Stephanie is based in LA. Steph is popular among some folks because she plays some real good Seventies and Eighties soul and disco in between talk.
Ed Schultz, of course, comes out of Fargo. A few black folks have called into his shows. He's a gun-toting, labor-loving liberal talk show host.
I don't know where you live, but you also might try streaming these shows.
BBC America is good, but I would rather get the real deal from the Brtis. One of these days, we're going to have to listen to the real BBC and al Jazeera in English on the cable line-up.

Democracy Now is good. Really any source that isn't so Western dominated is a breath of fresh air.
Nate_Wesley
NPR would be a good source if it weren't going through tremendous budget cuts. One of the shows aimed at African-Americans called News & Notes (hosted by Farai Chideya) is getting axed.
There is one other show you might be interested in called Tell Me More hosted by Michel Martin. If they don't clear the show on the radio where you live, they host it online and provide a podcast.

pbs is good during those times, al jazeera, bbc is good. bill moyers and gwen ifill are good, fareed zakaria is great he comes on on sundays. umm outside of those id say newspapers and internet sites. be careful of not going to extreme leaning sites because they will exaggerate of get things wrong

I like the News Hour with Jim Lehrer. Old school journalism - you know, where they checked information before it went on the air.
If you get any of the BBC channels, you do receive the news as it appears in the UK. It is vastly superior, at this moment in time, to the dreck that passes for news in the US. Hopefully, President Obama will nominate FCC commissioners, and Congress will pass legislation, reinstating rules prohibiting media organizations owning/controlling mulitiple outlets in the same city.

How about C-Span?

I weaned myself off right after the election, and Im glad I did. I didn't realize how those shows were effecting me until I gave them up. They were pissing me off nearly every day. The Inauguration was the first time I've watched any news channel since Nov. 4th. I get most of my news from the internet, I occasionally watch MTP on Sundays but that's about it. Im not going back to that drug.
MsKitty
It's too bad that we can't get CNN International because it is a completely different channel from its US counterpart in terms of the content and the way they cover stories in-depth. At this point I just watch BBC World News and Olbermann. I cut back on watching Rachel Maddow because I got tired of her "talk me down" shtick after awhile. It's like she has to find something to worry about just for the sake of worrying.

From my understanding, many people wanted Larry Summers to become Treasury Secretary, the issue with him was more an attitudinal problem rather than a tax problem.
So I think what Obama should do is nominate Summers, and put Geithner in place of Summers.

I just wondered if ya'll noticed what I noticed last night. I was watching some of the coverage, and my TV some how got turned to O'Reilly, and he was calling President Obama, Barack Obama. Ya know, "Let's talk about Barack Obama's speech", or "So what did you think of Barack Obama's speech". It really irked me to no end. Maybe I was just sensitive, but it seemed like O'Reilly could not call him President Obama. The reason I ask is because I'm not sure I ever heard anyone of Fox News call GWB anything but President Bush.
Just wondering if anyone else noticed it.

i think pictures will redeem the dress.
I think that as with all things, it was the expectations game that spoiled this dress for some people. People were expecting more color, and all those designer sketches that people saw colored our vision some what.
Anyway, I like the dress

Maybe it's just me, but when it comes to Michelle and fashion, she can do no wrong in my book. I mean the woman can literally wear a brown paper sack and I would give her two snaps. I LOVED the yellow/gold/green ensemble for the inauguration. It made her skin glow. And the white? LOVED it. It made her look twenty years younger...maybe it's not the clothes, it's her. She always looks comfortable in what she wears and she wears it with extreme confidence. LOVE her.

I'm kinda enjoying the coverage on NBC with Matt & Meredith. For the rest of the day, I'll probably be streaming between MSNBC and CNN.
I'm a glutton for punishment, so I actually like to watch the commentary.

When Keith O announced this at the beginning of his show, I thought it was a joke. Is the economy getting to his old butt and he couldn't afford the moving men? Maybe he shoulda called his cousins and 'nem to come round the house to help him out. :)

I don't agree, the "clean up version" was so that the MSM would not continue to harp on it, nip it in the bud so to speak.
The story itself is still not very newsworthy. It is just an excuse to divert momentarily from the excitement of the moment.
The decision of picking a vice-president and SoS are important one. The original way this slip was gonna be covered seemed too cavalier an occurence. And if there is one thing no one seems to think Obama is...is cavalier. The man thinks over (some might say overthink) everything. That's why I say it's not newsworthy. Yeah report, but I would prefer the media does not try to get their news from entertainment programs.
Besides, per Marc Ambinder @ The Atlantic, " ...Aides said they issued a clarification not because they were worried about Sen. Hillary Clinton's sensitivities but because they did not want the historical record to be compromised."

It is no big deal to me, but again when the MSM has nothing to talk about and a slip comes out that they knew nothing about, of course they will harp on it. Is it important, HELL NO. And the clean up version was to refute what Jill Biden said, she said her husband was offered the choice of SoS and VP. She said this because she did not want her husband away from home for long lengths of time and if you look at the look on her face after she dropped the bomb and Joe Biden saying , "shhhhh", this was not to be out in the open. Persons don't back peddle a statement unless it was totally right, wrong or f**ked up.

This is a blip.. What is Hilary gonna do? Opt out of SoS? Go out of her way to F*&^ up Obama's State Office Administration? Issue a comment?? What can she do...NOTHING???? And sadly, the MSM does a disservice to the nation by trying to make this a bigger story than it needs to be!!!!
They are just looking for contrary info to peddle. Tomorrow this will not even be a story. If anyone other than Fox News covers this as a big deal, they should be shamed!

It may be a blip, but it is news worthy to look at the process at which people were picked for positions in the O Admin. Is it a big deal? No, but an immediate "clean up version" would not have been released if the slip did not have any merit.
