WTF I don't get the dickwad award? Losers. ;)

Well Jeremiah look at it this way - it is only because of you that the Dickwad Award even came about :) therefor by default you are the Original Dickwad by which all others must measure up to - although I doubt future recipient will have your same class and humor at having the award bestowed upon them :)

in Transparency vs. Responsibility? Err on the Side of Caution on Media Emerging
Thank you all for the level-headed commentary here. I messed up my approach, and I recognized that and have apologized in public for it.
Thank you for recognizing my intent, and why I felt I was obligated to do. Going back, I certainly would have done things very different.
What I do next is what matters. I've learned, will apply these lessons to what I do going forward, and hope that you'll see that.
It's nice to see some civil discussion on this, now let's move forward.

Thanks so much for stopping by to engage, Jeremiah. Your willingness to do so -- even on a tough topic like this -- is why I (and many others) respect you, and is symbolic of social media working at its best.
"What I do next is what matters" -- a great takeaway lesson for anyone reading. Social media is chock full of people and companies who parachute in, use the medium to deliver THEIR message, and then airlift out. Those individuals and companies who commit to the medium (practice? way of thinking?) and maintain a long-term, come-what-may presence will have the most success.
Thanks again...hope we get to cross philosophical swords in person someday ;)

Typo, I meant to write the following:
Listen, I don't mind being the digital punching bag for designers, but I'd rather focus on the reality of the situation AND focus on solutions.

in Jeremiah Owyang’s Anti Spec Contest on Andrew Hyde
I actually didn't know that email went out to the community. I asked Ross not to treat me any differently than anyone else, as I was experimenting with the tool. I did find quite a few weaknesses with spec work and crowdspring that I'll be bringing up at the panel. To start with: 1) This is no excuse for not having a design strategy. I knew what I want (and am a former UI designer) so i could get by just fine 2) Some of the submissions were sub standard, actually they were very hard to look at 3) This was time consuming for me, I spent a lot of time providing feedback to a majority of the submissions.
Andrew, I laughed out loud when I saw the graphic, but what the heck does that have to do with the issue? It would make more sense if you started to do spec work my research.
Listen, I don't mind being the digital punching bag for designers, but I'd rather focus on the reality of the situation then focus on solutions....and that's what I'm going to do. In the end, I'm going to recommend to the world's largest brands how they should approach spec work --if at all.
Also, thanks for calling me a friend, I think the same of you too! Looking forward to coming back to Boulder to partake in chai with you again!

in You’re only as good as the monitoring tool you use on Blending the mix
Thanks for this, but where did I say that I take pleasure or even indicate that anyone be unemployed? Being out of work sucks, I'm compassionate to that.
The big message is (which you clearly get) is that it's time to be accountable, so even those bullsh*tters that aren't measuring will need to mature.
I'm not in the business of taking pleasure over someone's pain, my job as an industry analyst is to say what I see happening, and I did just that.
