I mean if a small company has 10 licences u need 10 service licences? That's crap - there should be a package system plus service/support and licence should be sperated, one indivudually can choose how much one needs of each
And here is fine example (and I think our company is not the only one) of a company being smacked by this ridiculous idea:
We have 4 SW workplaces - quite many of our customers don't update each year - so we now need SW versions from 2005 to 2008 on almost every Workplace because SW annoyingly is not able to save in a previous version. Now consider how this new rip-off will multiply the costs!

Re: Flying Ninjas, No. 3D Future CAD Interface, Yes.

woot - with this takes VR a big step ahead, because you don't need to be attached to some bulky equipment - extremely cool development!!!
Now you need a similar development as Wacom did by combining the graphics tablet into the flatscreen to directly draw on the monitor. Instead of a monitor add some kind of 3d-hologramm projector (already available but expensive) so the ultrasound forcefield excactly overlaps with a 3d-image and taadaa u get some virtual matter that is deformed in reality. If u think about it this would be damn close to holo-decks from the Star Trek Universe (except for size and dimension ).
Also think about the endless possibilities for GUIs - no more keyboard - at least not physical. You could use different designs and skins for your keyboards and any other pointing and manipulation devices! You could design the interfaces of your every software to your very liking and create and arrange as many (ultrasound) buttons and keys you need around you in any pattern or layout - no more restricting taskbars or ribbons etc. etc. etc.!

Re: Would You Use It? The First High-Quality 3D Printer… On Your Desktop

The last few weeks I compared almost all available RP Systems, because my boss is thinks about buying one so i can say you really need to differ!

first: ABS like for injection molding etc. is cheap but the specially prepared ABS for SLA and Printers are expensive - you really need to do an comparison on Density and Volume und get out of a cartrigde - the weight price is totally useless! And on this basis the Objects printers do pretty well compared to the other printers - although powder printers (or laser sintering) like the ones form Z-Corp are still unbeatable in that sector. Also you have to consider that printed/SLA ABS has by far not the same properties and qualities as "industrial" ABS.

second: what do u need you printer / SLA for ? for parts bigger say like 10-20cm SLA might be suffiently accurate BUT if you print out components that need to work instantly or u have small objects like MP3-Players etc or even smaller like machine components that are only like 1 cm big and have feature only a few micrometers thick then you can forget SLA altogether because their resoultion totally sucks. Small casings like for MP3-Player or mobile phone could be finished but not real small machine parts etc. If you also consider the machine, tools, supplies and worktime you need to finish SLA parts the you run costs way lower even in the middle run - and you are faster and thus flexible!

Another feature which is hardly or impossible to manage are micorstructures like this (http://3s.addfabb.com/index.php?lang=1), which will gain a lot of importance in the future!

Re: SolidWorks Flickr Finds: Lego Robots, Creatures and Ships

I love Lego - always did - especially the the big "technic"-boxes. I had quite a lot of them but no more :(
So I did a model of a box I always wanted :) - and I even more appreciated the system. The "engieering" of the Lego-bricks is absolutely genius. It looks simple, but actually somebody put a lot of thought into the proportions, so you can combine the components in a wast number of ways

One of my renderings:
http://renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?im...

Re: The Rich Get Some Multi-Touch to Create Thier BMW

OMG - what a giant waste of potential - there are so many other much more useful and meaningful applications....
