Amen to all that.
Maybe this Mercedes Johnson interview will start the unraveling process for Palin's tissue of lies.

If we could see your lies, would they be better or worse than Palin's?

The big twist they apply to that factual shortcoming is that :
Saddam retained the "intent" to reconstitute a nuclear program.
To support that claim the right cites the 500 tons of yellowcake at Tuwaitha and that old piece of equipment they found buried in an Iraqi physicists' yard.
They never bother to explain how they got it wrong with those aluminum tubes they asserted were "only suitable for gas centrifuges". A neo-con mole in the CIA kept pushing that one despite the State Depts' INR opinion to the contrary.
Both Kay and Duelfer debunked the WMD claims but their reports mentioned various pieces of industrial equipment which could conceivably be adapted to weapon programs. Nothing tangible just bits and pieces they could hang their disinfo on.

Ari ran on and on, over and over. On the way he misstated the nuke capability of Libya, Syria and Iraq, asserted Ahmedinejad was the dictator of Iran( the ayatollah might have another view on that) and constantly misrepresented the "record job creation" the bush/CHENY administration. Tweety tried to respond, I suppose, but really seemed to let stuff go unchallenged. Fleischer just ran a fire hose of disinfo at Matthews, frequently talking over him. The hubris is simply stunning. I cannot believe these people are from the same planet as me, let alone the same country.

Apparently Palin is distancing herself from the People book about her. I guess having the entire family except her cooperate with the author was not enough for it to be "authorized". Sarah is reserving the true story for when she writes her book. Crazy stuff !

Well the Palin babygate will not go away. On the contrary it just keeps building steam. This story needs to be run to ground. Take a look at this stuff and see what you think:

in Merrill Lynch, who you bailed out, paid $3bn to $4bn in Christmas bonuses on AMERICAblog
Undoubtedly a lot of that bonus money went to suspiciously senior executives at Merrill Lynch. That being said, my understanding is that the compensation norms for workers who fall between senior exec status and the support staff(clerical, mailroom etc) is a rather skinny salary which is typically augmented with a year-end bonus. So a good portion of that bailout cash was arguably not pissed away.
I suppose the whole situation calls for quite a bit more oversight. At the same time lots of Americans need to open their minds to an ongoing education in how the world works outside of our personal bubbles. There is no doubt in my mind that as we go forwards there will be many so-called contradictions that simply melt away with a broader understanding of the issues and the context from which they arise.
Of course the wingnutty fringe will seriously pounce on any and all, real or imagined, gaps between our stated governing philosophy and our statements and actions. A well rounded understanding of the issues at play and their inter-relationships will allow us to better shelter the wobblier portions of the non-aligned electorate from the shrill, fear based rhetoric which the Conservative base feeds upon.

in Did Rove Use Novak (Again)? on The Washington Independent
Isn't Novak in a hospital somewhere, supposedly dying from something ? Is he so bored, or restored that he is able to resume the grind of meeting deadlines again ? I think maybe this time he had his column's precis and copy all but delivered to him so that he could be made useful as a Rove plant just one last time. Who knows maybe good ol' Bob hasn't outlived his usefulness as a ventriloquist's dummy.

in No Oil Deals for Iraq? on The Washington Independent
What will really make these squabbles over Iraqi oil howlingly, hilariously ironic will be the possibility that Saddam so abused the petroleum fields over his time in power that their production rates will be minimal. Think about it, the worlds 2nd or 3rd largest proven reserves will only be able to produce a trickle of oil and most of that locked up by the Chinese.
