in The semantic elephant in the room - Google will settle the "top down vs. bottom up" debate for us on Over The Counter Culture
Philippe
Most of the development on the web is bootom up and will be regardless of google or even the money involved. There are over a billion people on the we and even if a small percentage of hobbyists are working on bottom up semantic search this dwarfs google. I am currently adding a sparql to my own project that has yet to turn a dime:

Semantic search kills one of google advantages (accuracy) but it doesn't really have trust or relevance built in so time will tell......

in AB Meta on A VC
Please, please do not use AB Meta. This appears to be yet another proprietary fork.
Please get behind the W3C standard RDFa:
http://rdfa.info/
And if you cant do that use Microformats:
http://microformats.org/
I have already implemented both in the front end and am restructuring the backend to utilise their enormous potentai (look up sparql on google) on my website:
http://localhero.biz/
These formats have enormous potential, are open, and are standards. The same cannot be said for AB meta.

How do you declare that a page contains a book using these two standard formats? Can you show us an example?

in The Difference Between Wordpress and Facebook on A VC
I am someone who is buidling a blogging/search platform:
http://localhero.biz/
and has deployed wordpress for several websites on a consulting basis.
I think there are a few issues.
Ultimately open platforms/software will win as they are so much more flexible and you ownnn your own data. I believe wordpress is one of the better platforms but as far as I can tell it is missing alot of features (content versioning, an api, a spider/feed reader, different content formats) which are essential for support of the next generation of products. Its a very good blogging platform but the future is integrating blogging with so much more.
