I know it is rare but I have heard of people loosing their whole RSS list because it is out of their control. A newsletter in addition is a good touch. I think you did a great job laying out what a RSS is an the best way to visualize it.

Re: What is RSS? - What is Really Simple syndication?

@Eric, RSS can be used for a lot more than just blogs too. I setup Ping.fm to auto update all of my social networking sites. Since I don't have to log in to update those sites I subscribe to the site's feed through RSS like Facebook. That way if someone replies to my status change I can immediately respond to that person. In essence automating updating and repling as much as possible. Tapping into little things like that let people manage a much bigger footprint on the net in social media terms.

Re: Word of Mouth Marketing Book Giveaway

I have to say that I am currently going through and book and love it very much. I can only imagine how doing a search on Facebook and having to add a person as a friend to be able to talk to them. That would burn up the 5k friend limit in a hurry just trying to communicate. Facebook does have a wide reach and more barriers to entry hopefully adding to the usefulness of the content being searched, but the downside the slowing the process of "real-time" search. Give and takes on both sides.

Re: Gary Vaynerchuk - AOL doing things I think many people should be...

I am glad is starting to crush it but, watch the foul language. I got a great deal because I didn't want what the vendor was selling (really did, but anyway). People want to be in the know about everything, they also want to be a part of something. If they are taking the time to research you or your products the chances are they are a talker and talker when given the proper tools will do just that, talk. Hopefully that talking is about you and product.
