in Jedi Mind Tricks: How to Get $250,000 of Advertising for $10,000 on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
Tim, that was a very informative post and reminds me of haggling in Cairo. I got a great deal because I didn't want what the vendor was selling (really did, but anyway). Using these techniques and going in with a plan will save you lots of money on any item with a soft price. Don't forget that you can even get good price cuts at stores like Wal-Mart and Best Buy.

in Seeking Suggestions and Case Studies for New 4HWW (Plus: Twitter Giveaway Winners) on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
Looks great Tim. I personal like the Warren Buffett post, well, because I followed your advice and got a postcard from him (linked to in your post). I can't wait for a new release of the 4HWW having taken so much of the first one to heart. I have made huge life changes and have succeeded 10 fold since then, in part to the info you offered along with others. Keep up the great work.

in Finding the Perfect Office Chair: Aeron vs. Swiss Ball vs. the FBI’s Pick… on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
I have two identical Mirra chairs one for the office (came with the position :) and one for the home office. I wouldn't trade them for the world. You'd have to pry them out of my hands before I would give them up. I have noticed a huge burst of productivity not bogged down by lower back pain or discomfort. Nice post.

That is so true and when the big break down happens you will gladly take it to that shop. Plus, look at the word of mouth that you give to that business. I am sure you have referred others like yourself in that area to that same mechanic.

in What is RSS? - What is Really Simple syndication? on Marketing
@Eric, RSS can be used for a lot more than just blogs too. I setup Ping.fm to auto update all of my social networking sites. Since I don't have to log in to update those sites I subscribe to the site's feed through RSS like Facebook. That way if someone replies to my status change I can immediately respond to that person. In essence automating updating and repling as much as possible. Tapping into little things like that let people manage a much bigger footprint on the net in social media terms.

EricFriedman I am using ping.fm too. When I wrote this article - in September of 2006 -
the world of social media was very different. I agree that leveraging
accounts through one touchpoint can make a huge difference not only in time
saving but also in overall usage of a service.

I think I just might buy on of those instead, you know it is the whole time vs money thing. Bikes are just annoying to have because they are so awkward to store.

in Firefox Hits Record Market Share at 20%! on Zedomax.com
FF is awesome and I don't doubt one bit that they have gained huge market share, no only if chrome allowed extensions and plugins it might be the next to compete. Somehow I think Chrome is being setup to cram lots of google ads into their own browser down the road.

in Using the Most and Least Social Networking Utilities as Possible on Justin R. Levy
@Tiffany,

I agree that nothing replaces the full interaction. I approach this more from the angle of the little things like updating my status to: "josh: really doesn't like moving." I do it once with Ping.fm and all my sites are updated, if someone replies I can continue that conversation on Facebook or whatever.

As for the ASP (autosocialposter) that is purely for backlinks to my post. I wrote about Seth Godin Tribes right when it came out and because of that Plugin I ranked higher than his blog and Amazon.com because I had those instant backlinks. This isnt the case anymore but it did provide a flood of traffic.

You nailed it, what a great comparison to dancing on the ballroom floor. That is great way to explain web content to people who are on the bubble of what they should really be doing.

All I can say is that Gary is such a pimp. He really knows how to lay it out in a way that makes since, no bs and is spot on. A lot to learn from that guy. I just got into Seesmic because of him and not offer video commenting on my blog, who knows whats in story.

I think you nailed it right on the head here. So much of "for your protection" is a nothing more than a scare tactic. Credits cards have proven to spend between 12-14% more than cash or check. I am sure the CC companies have a vested interest in seeing people use them.

in What is RSS? - What is Really Simple syndication? on Marketing
I would in addition to having an RSS subscription have some type of newsletter subscription. I know it is rare but I have heard of people loosing their whole RSS list because it is out of their control. A newsletter in addition is a good touch. I think you did a great job laying out what a RSS is an the best way to visualize it.

EricFriedman As I said in the last comment - I would highly recommend Feedburner as they
have the ability to track email subscribers and manage them. Also I use
Google Reader to read RSS feeds as its a great tool to manage, tag, and
organize your RSS feeds.
