in Ask The Readers: Marriage Is… on Simple Marriage Test
Marriage is a decision to love another person just as they are, and love ourselves in the process. It is choosing to love a person who you don't like in some moments and realizing that it is worth the effort.

in Social Media is No Place for Robot Behavior on Chris Brogan
I couldn't agree with you more on this one. I absolutely HATE those stupid "Thanks for following" messages because it is so obvious they are robots and even more obvious that they are nothing more than a ploy to get more clicks. I agree -- makes me want to unfollow the sender on principle.

in Gary Vaynerchuk - Want to get advertisers on your blog/vlog? Go and... on Gary Vaynerchuk
I watched this on ProBlogger, and you seriously inspired me. I was holding my breath when you were making that call thinking it would go south quickly. But you made it so ridiculously easy that I started doing my own cold calling today. Way to get me off my bloggy butt!

in Best Practices for Donating Furniture on Furnication
I can't disagree with you at all. Donating furniture and larger items should be a lot easier than it is. I can't speak for New York, but in Georgia, we've always had to take our furniture to Goodwill or Salvation Army drop-off locations ourselves. It took some extra time and renting a truck, but it was worth it knowing that the pieces wouldn't end up in a landfill. We also ask around to friends and family to see if they need any of the items we're getting rid of.

Jim Moran Given the variety of options in every city, there should be a nationwide resource. I spoke to Andrew Johnston when putting this together, and he developed a terrific start. The truth is, excellent options for recycling and donations exist in every city, the trick is organizing them all in an intuitive way.

in Out With The Old, In With The New! | Mommy Daddy Blog on Mommy Daddy Blog
The new design really does look great! It's fresh and lively, and I think it was a great move to include your photo in the header. As a graphic designer who loves to tweak, tweak, tweak, I know how long it can take to pull it all together to a design you love. You really did a great job!

I really like the Born Free sippy cups too. Looks like they are popular :) Thankfully my daughter is at the age when she's not pulling, tugging and dropping everything to make it leak, so its been pretty good to us.

in Lotus Bleu puts a New Spin on Vintage Furniture on Jetson Green
And my love for vintage furniture continues! I love these chairs! I recently blogged about another company that does similar work: Kanibal Home. Their furniture isn't quite as pricey, but it is definitely great to have vintage furniture options. Lotus Bleu's fabrics literally make me salivate...lol. Thanks for the great tip! This is one I will definitely have to pass on to my readers!

Glad to hear Home Depot has started this program, because this is a large part of the reason I have been reluctant to buy CFLs. Now if I can just find some affordable LEDs...

in Make Your Blog Design Work For You on Chris Brogan
I'm a graphic designer by trade (mostly branding and print...not much web), and when I started my blog, I didn't realize how different the blogosphere was. I started off with a boring 2-column design that I soon realized didn't reflect my content or the likely sensibilities of my audience. Now, both my header and my page background reflect those. Considering my blog is about eco-friendly home decorating, I wanted it to be sophisticated and pleasing to the eye. And I think the color scheme definitely reflects that it is a labor of love.

I have a new 3-column design with 2 columns in the right sidebar. This has allowed me to put my RSS feed and newsletter subscription above the fold, while still being able to offer targeted ads to my readers. All of my ads are either about green living in various areas of life, or about home design and decorating -- both which are very related to my content and therefore likely to interest my readers. And while my header is fairly deep, it's not as deep as it was at first, and again, I think it reflects the content of my blog.

in Thumbs up for trees on Green Blog
This is a great idea. Typically, the people who come to GreenBlog are probably the ones who are already trying to make a difference. Millions of people use StumbleUpon, and maybe the Earth Day page will encourage many of them to participate.

I'm not sad for the U.S. to lose this particular designation. But collectively, we are still a bunch of wasteful polluters who haven't even begun to undo the damage we've done to the planet.

in Apple Doesn’t Like the Big Apple on Green Blog
As much as I love Apple computers, this is a ridiculous complaint. The 2 logos are clearly different, and it is unlikely their industries and purpose will intersect. Noone is going to mix them up.

in Colourful re-usable bags from Envirosax on Green Blog
I love finding items like this! So many people hold the misconception that everyone who loves the environment is a hippie tree-hugger. I love items like this that are both stylish and eco-friendly, and once more people understand that you don't have to sacrifice one for the other, I think so many more people would go green.

That is the whole point of my site, http://www.greenyourdecor.com. Check it out :o)
