Rewatching this show for the 3rd or 4th time in years reinforces that Hyori was hilariously awesome and Soo Ro really did annoy me. Also amazed that so much stuff I thought happened later in the series, actually happened before the 10th ep.

Heaven forbid ABC actually put facts in a story. Dolezal canceled today's meeting. Board member, Lawrence Burnley emailed her and the Spokane board asking her how she even had the right to do that? The meeting is going on as planned. Whether she'll be there or not is another thing.

I'm a photographer, but I don't shoot people because it's tedious and hard. That said, this is a terrible picture and I hope it's not a promo shot, but just some snap from a random. It's just so poorly done and all that mess in the middle with the hands and arms is headache-inducing.

Every time someone looks at my kids and says "mixed raced/biracial kids are so beautiful" I want to punch them in the throat and set their genitals on fire. People like that are too stupid to live. I moved out of Hollywood because I didn't want my kids around racist white liberals. We moved to Latino/Asian neighborhood and my kids mostly blend in--that is, until people realize who their parents are. Latino kids just staring at me, "You're her mother? But she speaks Spanish!" It amazing the number of people who assume my daughter is Latino and my son is Asian and are surprised & taken aback when they meet their black mom and Hungarian/Romanian dad.

As an American, I was raised that people who talk about how much money they make/flaunt their wealth were low-class. Trash. I'm not talking buying an expensive car because you can afford it, but buying one to impress others. Tyler actually said something right, for once. These rich people presented in media are characters and their purpose is to dull the senses of the masses. Most of those people never earned their wealth, so to Americans they don't represent any kind of "American Dream".

Still, it was weird to see Europeans blame America for this, when it was immigrants and the American upper class going on their 'Grand Tours' in the 18th and 19th centuries who brought that here. I mean, there's no sense of history. That was well before 'bling' entered our lexicon. Not to mention, as an American visiting Europe the one topic that they seem to be obsessed with is how rich I was (I wasn't/not), what famous people I knew, if I had luxury brands, etc. It was just vapid.

As far as LA goes, Guillaume was just regurgitating those media-made stereotypes. He said "outlying areas were different", which shows his utter ignorance of this city. I live in the city in a broke-ass neighborhood. I lived in so-so parts of town where my neighbors with incredibly rich/famous people. One thing I've noticed, is that the transplants are the ones who like to show off and brag the most. Russians, Persians and Chinese are the most visible to do this. That's not LA. That's not America. That's their sub-culture in this city. If that's how they want to present, it's not hurting me.

Blair's talk about the building's being advertised to Chinese was interesting. Here in LA, over the past 5 years or so, tons of new buildings have gone up and they're mostly advertised to Koreans. These aren't cheap places either. Buying is $800k+ or renting is $3 - $5K per month. You see famous Korean celebrities in & around the apartment buildings all the time. So, it's funny to me that they obscure it on TV saying they were "visiting" when the people who work there are like, "No, they live here."

I started playing the LEGO games with my son when he was 4. He's 9 now and we still play together, except when he doesn't do his chores. The kid can't remember what he learned in school, but he remembers every single video snippet in all 6 LEGO games we have. Okay...that's worrying.

When my kids were babies (under 4), there wasn't much of a change. I still played my video games, watched movies, read and just did whatever I wanted. Somehow, when they started school it became more of a challenge. Helping with homework, volunteering at school, and just being old hampered a lot. Both kids like different interests of mine, so I have people to play with now.

This was wonderful and intelligent. Camiele has my same experiences, but where some of you opt to choose your battles, I think this is always a battle worth engaging in, but I'm also confrontational when I don't like a situation. If the other person gets offended you've pointed out their ignorance, that's on them. I had a boss (white lady) who, not only couldn't speak/write proper English--she sounded like a 6yo--but also used idioms & proverbs incorrectly. The first thing she said to me 5 minutes after I arrived on the job was, "I really like how articulate you are." I said, "We're going to have problems if you think that's a compliment." After that, I always corrected her, mostly because people who fail up annoy me to no end.

I'm not Asian, but I think that's a good topic. I've seen what my friends here in LA have gone through, but I know a good chuck of SE Asians who grew up in the south (they all now live in SF) and I'm blown away by the ancient kind of racism & bigotry they dealt with as children. They feel a lot more comfortable in SF.
