in Secure Twitter Authorization & Mini-Profiles on DISQUS Blog and Forum
Nice addition although to be useful to me, it would be really great to add identi.ca as a service (and mini profile).

in Questions About Habari for WordPress Users on Fun with WordPress
Interesting. Like you, I have played with MT, Joomla, Drupal and also had a WP blog.
In February, I moved to Habari, primarily because I disliked the dashboard in WP 2.5.
I think the Habari administration interface is simple, clean, functional and uncluttered. I'm no UI designer but it looks like it was designed rather than evolved.
Curiously enough, I then went on and ported a WP theme. Odd - because I had never written a WP theme before.
As for why Habari doesn't generate more buzz, we are discussing that very issue over on the mailing list right now :-)
Anyway, posts like this will certainly help to spread the news.
Cheers

in Blog comments are dead: discuss on Scobleizer
Au contraire. Comments on blogs are alive and well. The fact they don't all co-habit with the blog is immaterial.
I would normally comment on FF, failing that Disqus and finally, reluctantly, I have to waste a couple of clicks and valuable seconds to comment on the actual blog.

in I’ve redesigned on Scobleizer
Different and better IMHO.
Please, please don't install Disqus.
My Disqus powered comments are working fine and you already have 103 comments on this post alone.
The addition of your blog would probably bring the Disqus infrastructure to its knees. If you insist, maybe ask for a dedicated server and pay for a VIP service :-)

It would be very easy to say that Louis Gray received the treatment he did because of who he was and the fact this turned out to great PR for Disqus.
However, if you follow Daniel Ha on Twitter, you will seen that he religously follows any and all references to Disqus and is continually offering help and assistance to everybody - regardless.

Interesting. Currently, the single biggest difference (and the key differentiator) between SezWho and Disqus is the placement of the comments.
A lot of bloggers are reluctant to relinquish 'control' and 'ownership' of the comments on their blog and worry about trusting an outsourced service.
With the release of API's, it will be interesting to see what utilities/plugins/add-ons emerge to synchronise/mirror comments, integrate with other services etc.

in FriendFeed is for Lurkers too on Oracle AppsLab
I like FriendFeed and am still playing with it. Originally, I thought it was just a lifestream, aggregating all my puerile outpourings in a single feed.
But now I increasingly use it for discovering new content (bloggers, twits, people with shared interests).
Like others, I feared 'information overload' but the clustering of items seems to make this manageable (although I only follow 10 people - quality not quantity).
As Louis Gray pointed out, until you participate (comment, like, follow), you are barely scratching the surface.
Initially, I was aghast at the fragmented commenting system but now I am coming round to believe this is a positive advantage.
Search is a great addition too.

Curious. I recently upgraded to Firebox 3.0b4 a week ago. Since then, Google Reader absolutely screams through my 183 feeds.

in Publish Your Blog to Twitter on Oracle AppsLab
I think it is perfectly acceptable to either selectively post blog articles (or automatically re-blog all content) to Twitter.
I don't know (or care) whether my handful of Twitter friends are familiar with my blog so my articles could be viewed as Tweets > 140 characters.
Any existing readers can easily skip the blog content as it is clearly marked 'New blog post:' (from Twitter Tools).

in Fav.or.it from London, RSS reader to beat Google Reader? on Scobleizer
The integrated commenting and attention tracking are interesting features.
The Trends and Recommendation Engine less so as Google Reader already does that.
To succeed, they would obviously need a sizeable user base. However a sizeable user base would pose the inevitable questions about performance and scalability as, to do it properly, it sounds like they could be storing and mining a *lot* of data here.
I predict with a no-quibble, money-back guarantee that GR will incorporate some or all of this functionality by the end of 2008.
However, I can't actually create and share slices, import OPML, actually use it or post a detailed review of fav.or.it because it's currently a closed beta.
Pity a UK company couldn't spell favourite correctly and used the obligatory embedded Web 2.0 periods. That is so last year, don't you think ?

Thanks for posting this. A fundamental Oracle concept but not one that is necessarily easy to explain.
I think the worked example and format worked really well.
