in Praying With My Eyes Wide Open - Theology for Preschool Through First Grade on GoodWordEditing.com
Perhaps instead of using a school principal to explain reverence, you could say prayer is like having an audience with the king. Are we good and loyal subjects of the king, or are we irreverent rascals who bring him shame? Can we behave our best while we are before him? How can we show him honor?

Anyway, I smiled on reading your post this morning. :)

in Page One Review - Stephen Lawhead’s Scarlet on GoodWordEditing.com
This is the first one-page review I've seen (by you or anyone else for that matter), but I love how detailed you are, and also how you've written your review so that it can be well understood by a wide audience. Bravo! As one who has attempted to write a novel or two, it is quite helpful to see what elements you appreciate and what catches your attention. That's all very helpful. So thanks.

in Blogs, Books, Mags Compete Equally on the Same Device on GoodWordEditing.com
I just saw the Kindle this last weekend and my 16 year old daughter almost decided to spend her Christmas money on it -- but instead went for a 16 GB iPod Touch!

It looks like Amazon has really tried to think this device through and to do for books what Apple did for music. I wish them all the best because I would love to access to a whole world of people out there looking for stuff to read, not just clicking on their email and News websites.

Of course NOW is the time to get one's blog formatted to work well with this device. The first ones who do this AND have the content that people want will be the ones who have a chance at attracting a real audience.

Hmm. Of course that means that I now have to go buy one of these things and figure this out myself. Now, if only I can convince my wife this is a "business" purchase...

in Remember the Universe Is a Really Big Place - only then can your house be blessed on GoodWordEditing.com
Hi Marcus,

I like to think about the story of the prodigal son in this regard. While the son deserved nothing and deserved to be treated as less than a slave, in fact the Father loved him and celebrated his return. We may be incredibly small and insignificant in this universe, but because of the love of the Father for us, we have been elevated to be His children. And that's truly incredible when you ponder how BIG a change that really is!

in Mark D. Roberts and I Will Be On Hugh Hewitt Today on GoodWordEditing.com
Hi Marcus and thanks for dropping by my new blog yesterday. It was listening to Hugh's show from the Godblog conference and hearing Mark D Roberts talking about TheHighCalling website that got me over to check this all out and got me started on HighCallingsBlog. I suppose I heard you too on that program, but then Mark was the one I knew as Hugh talks to him regularly.

I used to keep my politics separate from my faith-based writings, but I decided I want to cover all the spheres of life that I care about. I'm using the "categories" feature to identify my postings and I'll see how that works.

Even still, I'll be trying to keep my politics to areas that a wider audience could appreciate -- whether they agree or disagree.

God bless!
