in Rune Factory Frontier: Returning To The Farm on Siliconera
I have RF 2 for the DS, and RFF for the Wii. I actually found RF2 a bit intimidating and found RFF offered a gentler introduction to the system.

Holding the Z button can help align you while farming, since it seems to 'snap' you to 1 of 4 cardinal directions.

Love the game, but like the author, I can only play it on weekends, or risk missed sleep!! :)

Wow, that really is a nice looking video. Streamed very smoothly too.

Oh yeah, the content was good, too. :)

in Twitter, and colliding worlds. on Classy
Twitter is a weird beast. I follow some people almost like I'd sign up for their RSS feed. I don't really care about them as people, but I care about them as a barometer for what's going on in the world. But for the most part those people tweet about what's going on in whatever slice of the world they're invested in. They don't add much personality to their twitter presence and rarely go 'off message.'

I find these people useful, but it seems like what they're doing must be dead boring.

Other people I follow because they seem like interesting people, and I want to hear about all different aspects of their life and interests. These are the people I'm always @replying to. I feel like I'm getting to know the people behind the tweets. For these people, I think twitter absolutely is the place to just be yourself. And I think if I had to lose one or the other aspects of twitter, I'd rather lose the 'broadcast' types than the people types.

Of course it isn't always easy. I've been on the fence about one fairly 'internet celebrity' level person because she stepped out of her usual role of technology/gadget reporter and started talking about global warming, and what she said just dumbfounded me. To this day I can't decide if she was being sarcastic or not. I enjoy what she has to say about gadgets, but I find myself wrestling with the issue of where I should be following her. Is # of followers a kind of currency? By following someone am I giving them a vote of confidence, telling my friends "This person is worth listening to?" To some extent I think it is. And I do think this person has some interesting things to say about gadgets, but I hate even indirectly supporting someone who shares her apparent views on global warming.

Erm, sorry for the ramble, but your post got me thinking out loud...

Bottom line, I'm glad that you tweet about all your interests. It makes you a really interesting person to be following.

I don't get it either. My understanding from way back when it was announced, was that FreeRealms was for exactly who you suggest it should be for: kids. Yet another 'safe' and free virtual world for them to play in, with a light coding of gameplay brushed on.

I think Sony made 'em all drink the Koolaid at that Fan Faire.

Once the NDA is dropped, anyone with the beta client will be able to pass it on to friends and family.

This was posted in the beta forums, but you didn't hear it from me!

in Why The Nintendo Wii Is A Glorified Board Game on The Far Side of Tech
"Is it sad that I’m more interested in Wii Fit than I am for the actual games coming out for the Wii next year?"

Ha! Me too! And even more telling, my girlfriend is more excited about WiiFit than I am about anything on the Wii. A couple weeks back I rented a Wii game from Gamefly (Korinabo or something...a marble rolling game) and I had to adjust the Wii clock for Daylight Savings Time. That's how long it'd been since I'd turned the bloody thing on.
