in 11 Problems You Can Solve in 2009: Part II - Journalism on Daniel Klotz
I think we're going to see an explosion of entrepreneurial journalism in 2009. The Knight News Challenge was overwhelmed with applications. My favorite to come out of last year's challenge was Spot.us, which is a fascinating concept, even if I'm skeptical that it'll work on a large scale.

But I do think you're going to see more and more journalists leave news organizations to try to start up a new model on their own. I don't think we'll see it in central Pennsylvania just yet, but you're right: Since newspapers have taken their sweet time, the future business model is there for the taking. No journalism experience necessary.

OK, I'll bite:

Those are the only ones I actually use. I've signed up on YouTube/de.licio.us/Digg but haven't used them enough to make them worth linking.

I was really surprised to see, after I graduated from college two years ago, how quickly my AIM use dropped. And it's not just because I'm using Twitter way too much -- most of my college friends have also stopped using AIM.

Aside from Facebook, the other main factor is the chat feature in Gmail. Can't overlook that.

Hmm. Where else have I seen someone promote the 20 percent time rule? oh yeah, here!

But really, I completely agree more companies need to do it. I'm jealous to hear you're working in a place that seems to "get it."
