in How to Blow $100,000 on Word of Mouth Advertising on SIMS Agency
Great post Simon! If only we could convince the world to listen, we'd save them a lot of cash and get them much better results.

Simon Ashton Thanks Lyn. It really is frustrating, isn't it?

We should get them to give *us* a grant - I'd bet we could get 10x more visitors to come for $25k than this will bring!

in MySpace: Justin Timberlake or Britney Spears? on SIMS Agency
I'm one of the folks rooting for MySpace to fail. I just feel like anything they could do to fix it at this point is going to be a copy of Facebook. And it already has such a bad name. As a PR person, it would take a tremendous campaign to turn its image around to a more mainstream social network and not the social network for music, youngin's and sleeze.

in Wall Street Journal Article on Social Media Misses the Point on Jacob Morgan on Social Media, Technology, Marketing, and Life
Hi there-
I am actually quoted in the article :), but I agree with you 100%. We help our clients come up with a social media strategy, just like you would for any other marketing or PR campaign. Even better is if you can do some research first to determine if your clients are using these tools and if so, which ones?

We then definitely try to help them be creative, instead of just blogging for the sake of blogging or putting up a page on MySpace and never visiting it again. The businesses who will be successful online are the ones who think about what their audience wants and then tries to deliver some truly informative and entertaining content that meets those needs, yet still positions the company positively. And of course does it in the right forum.

Great post!
