in Apologies for organizational issues at LeWeb on Loic Le Meur
Really appreciate the honesty of the post, it is indeed very bad when you try hard and suppliers let you down!
More luck next year!

in Why Pixelated is brilliant and wrong on Christopher S. Penn's Awaken Your Superhero
I agree it is not a conference nor an unconference and that is what makes it brilliant. It is a great way for those who do not have access to 1800£$€ conferences to engagevon a personal level with great speakers, wisely selected.
I just hate traditional conferences and since you are part of podCamp if think we agree on that but would really love to see your take on that as I am sure it could add a lot!

in Advice for People Attending Conferences on Chris Brogan
Hey Chris,
great advice.
Podcamp is very compliant with your suggestions and they are doing a great job in using web 2.0 tools and integration.
I also suggest using as much as possible forums or events social networks, such as Backnetwork, as a great way to start engaging with new people.
Also carpooling is a great idea to lower the impact on the environment as well as making connections before the conference actually starts.
Thanks

in Question for You- New Marketing on Chris Brogan
Good question.
I think it's about building your community online, meeting your community offline possibly in an open and free unconference such as a Barcamp.
After that it is about consolidating communities with integration, so that what you have build in your environment does not get lost.
Can you make market products or services with this formula?
I am.

in 10 reasons why every company should host virtual events on Social Media Strategies For Events
Thanks for tagging me.
Well I definitely agree with your post and reasons.
The inevitable impact on the environment of moving people to events is to mme one of the best reasons why more people should choose such solution.
I had the chance to experience a test of On24 new virtual tradeshow platform. It is a great tool and it is really functional which I guess is another issue. You want reliability.
I truly believe in this new form of holding events and as technology progresses we will see the live interaction part of it more present and facilitated.

in Write Your LinkedIn Profile for Your Future on Chris Brogan
Great post.
I found my job through Linkedin and I cannot stress enough the importance of joining and possibly running Groups. I run a group of 2500 members and it has given me great chances to meet and contact directly like minded people.
Thank you
Julius

in Make Your LinkedIn Profile Work for You on Chris Brogan
Great post Chris.
I recently became a power user growing my network from 100 to 2000+ connections.
It helped me a lot setting up a group about my passion who was joined by 1000 people.
What also helped me was joining groups of open networkers such as Toplinked. The great thing about these king of groups is that invites are welcomed and you can introduce yourself to a lot of interesting people.
I made a choice of Linkedin over Facebook preferring it for its business perspective and it is paying off in terms of job contacts.
Thanks
Julius

in In my Second Life, I’ll be an event manager. A featured interview with Allison on Event Manager Blog
Thanks Al. I think I woke up when I noticed jobs listing for Second Life. I guess things like Meetups, Barcamps and Secon Life are shaping the profession and we need to be aware of that.
Virtual events will probably not completely replace live physical events in the near future, but their presence will definitely become more evident as the social media scape expands. We're already seeing how companies are going virtual for selected types of events.
How do you think this will change the event marketing space though? Should event marketers also provide solutions to virtual events, or do you believe the whole industry will evolve in its own due course?
