It is good to hear an analysis on something other than the top four. I am glad Hodgson is gathering a team that can compete in the premiership as opposed to Mr. Sanchez's Championship quality roster.

Craven Cottage is one of the stadiums I want to visit next year with my wife and daughter.

I can see Bullard leaving in the January transfer window if talks don't go well this time...

As was seen in the Charity Shield- Pompey's defense is slow. The Chelsea attack was having a ball in the first half.

We can't discount the well organized Honduran team that lasted 70 minutes until, the altitude, stamina and Sven's roster reshuffling with Bravo and Blanco in the 2nd half gave the Tri the win. Space was noticed as defensive lapses, shown in both of Pavel Pardo's goals.

The Guatemalan players should be hired as spaghetti western stunt men. They fall before any contact is made... I don't think Maradiaga has shown them this. He was always a tough player.

I don't know what your sources are, but they are inaccurate. Liverpool last won the league in the 1989-1990 season, second place in 1990-1991, and second place in 2001- 2002. That would be three top 2 finishes in that time span, along with other silver ware in Europe and elsewhere.
Many , like I have followed Liverpool since childhood for whatever reasons. That is loyalty, something that in this day and age seems to be fading away. Faith in our teams , the Forrests, Swanseas, Derby, Man U (yes I mentioned them) - no matter what. It was wonderful in Istanbul in 2005...I know some long time Chelsea fans that stuck through the thick and thin and here they are with a golden Mourinho era. I respect that- that is faith.

Phil, good points. One of the main reasons for their good defense has been an inspired Jose Reina. I still would like to see Daniel Agger in the starting lineup. Dossena seems to be trying to adapt to the league but keeps his head down , because he finds less space as in the majority of his serie A matches. I see Arbeloa still thinking he is in Austria. How many times has Carra saved him. Skertl keeps improving, but the usual "strong" midfield seems to be missing Mascherano.

I am concerned with the lack of width and now an injured Steve Gerrard.

Since coming to the US of A I have not followed American Football- I don't watch the NFL- even during the Super Bowl, and I get to watch the Super Bowl ads early thanks to my wife's web/marketing access. I would rather wait four years for the world to stop and focus on one grand tournament- the former Jules Rimet Cup.

Gaffer, cheers- agreed, Liverpool's challenge is consistency and not overly cautious tactical subs. Torres and Gerrard when playing together seem to be in a different level-ESP. But, we need to win more at home than giving away 2 points with draws.
