Your thoughts are very much appreciated regarding Twitter and networking. I truly believe it's important that as we work to be good participants of Twitter, we must always remember to add value - and not to constantly pitch our products or services, as you mentioned. Otherwise - a following will not be developed, as nobody wants to be constantly sold and barraged with products.

Interesting to see McCain become heavily involved in the social media aspect of internet. The ability to grab an audience/followers is definately increasing with today's many chosen web apps. I wonder how much votes will be affected directly by a superior use of social media. This is fun to watch.

It was nice that I wasn't using email at the time this happened. I also use Microsoft Outlook and a Blackberry - so all my emails are self hosted.

In my opinion there should always be a certain amount of respect for what is said online. There are surely consequences in the real world for what is said online. It's not worth getting hurt or have your privacy breached - just because something was done carelessly on the internet.

You're 100% correct Chris. It's terrible to me when I see website owners who oftentimes berate or "punish" followers and visitors via spam, hurtful comments, and other various methods. It's important to remember that our followers have chosen to listen, and can just as easily leave. We must treat them with respect - and they'll return the favor.

What an excellent list you've put together here. I really believe one of the greatest mistakes a blogger can make is not choosing a topic for their blog which they have a great passion and knowledge for. The passion will be the sole thing that allows you to continue writing - well after the initial desire. Don't write about a topic - just because you believe it might start making you money.
