I remember a long time ago you telling me how much you hated Bee Caves. It was when I interviewed at a temp agency there and you drove me. We went to a McDonald's and it was full of ooky upwardly mobile suburban moms. On the other hand, I always liked the scenery around there, and it isn't far from some other parts of town that are more fun.

When I was thirteen, I caught the bouquet at my dad's wedding. Then I ate at a Chinese place and got a fortune cookie that said I would be married within the year. I was scared. It didn't really happen, of course.

When I think about what makes life worth living, I usually think about people that I like and care about. And my cat. Which is probably a healthy aspect of the world to be attached to, except that if I find myself feeling alienated from people I'm close to and depressed about people in general it can be pretty disastrous for my overall morale.

I'm also really into ebay lately, but I've been buying things. I haven't been spending much money since I only buy stuff I can find really cheap and mostly just stalk things until they get too expensive (which is in most cases). Still, I can see how it would be possible to go overboard.

What is Breen's cool job? Just curious. It's great to see him doing so well--he certainly has put in a lot of work to get to this point.

Moles are cool, but I prefer voles. They look like they are made of velvet.

I have been hearing a lot of stuff about how Israel doesn't really want the Gaza Strip that bad--it's just a small portion of really crappy land--and they are trying to make a deal with the Palestinians to give them the G.S. and to keep all the other land that is much more valuable. Some people were talking about it on the Sunday morning political shows and then I read where Chomsky said something similar.

As someone who did activism around Afghanistan women's issues way before 9-11, I am totally certain that women's rights have nothing to do with anyone's motivations when it comes to the U.S.'s involvement in Afghanistan or Iraq. The Clinton administration did nothing but make sympathetic statements about women's plight under the Taliban, while allowing American oil companies to enter into profitable contracts with them. They definitely cared more about their heroin production, which is not saying much. The Bush administration didn't give a rat's ass about what the Taliban did to Afghan women until it became a convenient rationalization to try to add legitimacy to their attack on the country.

Steve read this thing once about these rural Tibetan Buddhists. They lived in the mountains where it would be really hard to get by without eating meat. They believed in only killing really big animals for food since you could get a larger amount of meat per soul. Eating a bunch of little birds would be, to them, a waste of souls, whereas splitting an entire yak with your village was OK.

Not trying to pick on you or anything, I just think it's interesting.

I've been seeing a lot of interesting birds lately. Yesterday I saw cardinals in two different places and saw a woodpecker with little spots and a bright red head.

I don't know if you have heard, but apparently Pamela Anderson got busted for wearing Ugg boots (since she is such a big PETA activist) and is supposed to be making a vegan/death-free version.

I just saw that movie for the second time yesterday. I'd say it's probably my favorite movie I saw this year. I don't know for sure if I think it's The Best, but it's my sentimental favorite.

There were points in the movie when Joe kind of reminded me of you.

I've always heard that they can't really conclusively rule out mold allergies since there are so many different kinds. Did your doctor address that at all? I don't know if it's true but you might keep it in mind.
