We so need these. Realtors are most guilty of violating them. I HATE being invited to real estate groups in other states - strike that - I HATE being invited to real estate groups in general. Also- nobody cares about your open house - you are not getting traffic from Facebook or Twitter to it! Figure SM out and use the brain God gave you. Be a HUMAN being - use lifestreaming - don't call yourself a SM guru/God/Jesus/Svengali (makes you seem tarded). Here's a tip - just like in life - sharing and interacting are key - So, share great info you find on Digg/Delicious etc. Interact with people - don't shout at them.

Re: About

Wow, I'm actually kicking myself for not reading this sooner. Entertaining Ivy League awesomeness that tries to avoid pompous with a splash of wit and a dash of self deprecation. Well done. I guess, Yale teaches something after all. Plus you forgot to mention how dashing, debonaire and embarrassingly good looking you are.

Re: Bodies of Work: 30 Unforgettable Nude Scenes

yeah- there are a lot of people I want to see NUDE- starting with the ROCK and ending with Ryan Reynolds. The rub has been that the real estate space took a turn sometime in the past where they started only blogging to the long tail- completely forgetting about the sheer volume of the short tail could easily be targeted with fewer posts. I sometimes wonder if the long tail isn't responsible for the all this prolific daily blogging I see. My best clients don't spend hours blogging every day- they spend maybe 3 hours a week. That's it. They get lots of short tail and long tail searches and more importantly- they get LEADS.

Re: Sacrilicious Marketing Chicks Make For Hot Blogging

Thanks for the plug, Joe. We'd always love for you to contribute over there.

Teresa,

We don't sell anything. We have a main stream marketing book being published in the Spring of 09. It is not for real estate or bloggers, just general stuff, probably not something you would be interested in.

Sacriliciously,
Mary

Re: Sacrilicious Marketing Chicks Make For Hot Blogging

Thanks Scott. And this is before our publicist has had the chance to get the word out.

Yesterday Nicole called out the Mean Girls for Outing Sarah Palin and today, I posed the question "Are you a good bitch or a bad bitch?"

Re: Top 12 Women Real Estate Bloggers - 2008 Edition

Thank so much what an honor to be among such other great bloggers and thanks for the shout out to my rebellious ways. I don't live in your world, but it was fun to visit and surprisingly not as geeky as I imagined. I think props have to go to Samantha Snyder for keeping the bus clean by draping barf bags from people's ears.

Re: Case Study:How 5 Outbound Links Gave Me 500 Incoming Links

Hmmm. I like the math of it all, so while linking out to quality sites is useful- there is a threshold where you do have too many outbound links and you leak too much PR to other sites so you can never flow enough through to your internal pages to boost PR and gain real authority.

PR is leaked in this fashion - you leak up to 85% of your PR to other sites from each page of your site. The value of the links you give to others diminishes as you link out to more and more pages, so over linking is not helping you or your friends. SEOmoz.org suggests very specific link limits to pages of specific PRs - check out their whiteboard Friday for PR sculpting/siloing and it will all make sense.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank

Mary McKnights last blog post..Have Cold Blooded Christmas, Hearts and Kisses, NikNik and REBlogGirl

Re: Kelly Tracy Memorial Fund Information

My heart goes out to the family and friends of Kelly. I personally know how difficult it is to lose someone especially around the holidays and I truly give all my love and prayers to all those clearly touched by Kelly's life. God Bless them and as always we should all be thankful to have a member of our network like Jay that has such a big heart to remind us all what is important during these holidays and what can happen when we least expect it to someone who has most to live for.

Thank you,
Mary.
And as for link love to Jay (though he says he does not want it), I think he deserves it for not just this post but the many unselfish and truly useful and loving ones he has given us over these past few years. He is a member of the REnet that truly has earned our respect.

Mary McKnight´s last blog post..Mary's Rant on A Fruit Loops Plan to Remove Demographic Language from Marketing and the Media

Re: How to embed YouTube videos to Microsoft PowerPoint slides?

Is there a tool that work on the MAC for that?
