Those last two posts you have on your article - with the partial list of accounts detected - are our research. At least give credit. Thx :)

Might be nice if you credit to the work done by @reportabuse. We had a whole team working on that.

Yet another article on the topic:
When Seth Godin isn’t Seth Godin

Turns out that, for the trouble they represent, some prefer to not even open an account. Take a look at Seth's reasoning:

I am just wondering.
If a platform as "sophisticated" as Facebook has not been able to solve this issue, what makes any one think Twitter will?
By all standards, they rely on the know-how of third party developers for most everything...

Jeremiah Owyang wrote an excellent article regarding this problem. Be it celebrities, brands, companies, all can use this advice:

@Anrkist:
No idea if this will help but we have been monitoring the @astronautics account for a while now given so many of our contacts(NASA and otherwise)were followed by them... for no obvious reason.
Our guess is it is a fake account, perhaps set up (who knows) with just this in mind.

in Facebook Shuts Down Human Pets on AllFacebook
Reading your article on Human Pets, one cannot help but wonder how much information is actually reaching you guys.
So you may see what I mean, look at this topic, being discussed right now over at the Developers´ Forum:
This isn't Porn Part III - The Insolence of Funwall
http://forum.developers.facebook.com/viewtopic....
Granted, a LOT of critical issues are being brought up there. Sooner or later, they WILL need to be addressed, even more so, taking into account the Agreement signed by FB with the Attorneys General.

Nick -
I am thinking it might be interesting to do a follow up article on the comments included in the original article:
Slide caught posting fake positive reviews for their own app
http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/04/03/slide-caug...
This is but the tip of the iceberg... and no one seems to understand what is going on REALLY. Starting with information being posted by bloggers - followed by the absolute lack of coverage by traditional media - it is no wonder that users are so clueless at to the real dangers lurking behind these Social Networks.
What is the New York Times doing research on? Let´s take a look...
