Still waiting on AUD scores in Georgia. Took the test 4/14. I felt really unsure about how I did, and am afraid I did not pass, but just want to know for sure.

in The Social OS, The Battle Between Facebook and Twitter is the New Mac vs. PC on PR2.0
Good morning, Brian! Like @J Schmitt and @janequigley before me, I don't necessarily view the two platforms as competing. For me (and, by association, my clients) they offer a symbiosis that works quite well. Each service offers something very different from the other, but when combined, work very well TOGETHER.
Personally, I'd like to see the two networks try to bridge their gaps even further, by allowing Twitter connectivity to Facebook PAGES, rather than just personal profile pages. Further, since Twitter has, thus far, and in spite of having a seemingly endless stream of venture capital, proven unprofitable, it'll be interesting to see what its future holds.

Curiosity is getting the better of me... what's up with 2602 Pacific? It's been on, off, on, off and back on the market; no description, very little information and the same price. It doesn't seem like the seller is really interested in selling. Just wondering if there is a story there. Also, what is the "land fee?"

Am I missing something? What difference does it make if you put 5% down or 50% down? If the property drops 30%, you've still lost 30% (value). The only difference, I see, is if it's current dollars or future dollars. If you're planning to walk away from it and leave the stock holders and taxpayers to eat your mistake, that's another story.

I have this same problem. Recently I came across a blog where somebody said to do your journaling, saying anything you want & then gesso, paint, or collage over it. I did it & it was so freeing to be able to write anything & not have to worry about anybody else seeing it but I was able to get it out of my system & then with a little bit of art over it, was very theraputic. I highly recommend it! :0)
Btw - I just signed up for your OHOW giveaway & was trying to find out if you sold your little dragons & bunny's somewhere? They are so super cute!

Ok, your freaked me out when the first thing I see when I look at your blog is death, death, death. But, once I got past the first few lines I took an aspirin and the heart attack subsided!!!
Feliz cumpleanos in less than 2 weeks! I loved being 25. In fact, I started everyone I was 25 like six months before my birthday. Don't know why, just did.
See you soon!

www.freelancewritinggigs.com is an awesome community of freelance writers. It's got great posts about all aspects of freelance writing (often focusing on blogging) and daily job posting culled from various other sites. I'm not affiliated with the site at all, other than as a faithful reader, but that's where I found two of my itty bitty blogging gigs that I've been working on for a while.
I get paid MUCH less than the prices quoted in your post but the topics of each blog really are in my area of expertise so it's not nearly as much of an uphill battle to write as it would be for a topic such as, say, celebrity gossip. ;)
I am enjoying my full time job way too much right now to ever consider making the leap to full time freelancing (and working with at risk kids all day doesn't leave me with much energy for building up my freelance gigs), so I'm not considering freelancing full time right now. But if I ever move back to Mexico, I would most likely pursue this avenue for income!
Oh, and Mamacita...I was doing some research with Google for one of my blog posts and came across a translation blog on which you posted a comment! Don't even remember the topic nor what I was researching, but I did remember recognizing your face from this blog! Small world, no?

in Thanks For Not Smoking on Kyle Hepp
Yikes! Anti-smokers, not anti-smoking (as one commenter said)!
As a smoker myself, I try to be as aware as possible of not polluting the breathing space of non-smokers. And if I fail to do so, I'm more than happy to do anything possible to get my smoke out of the way of non-smokers as graciously as possible.
I'd never smoke in a non-smoker's home even if they said it was okay. I try to stay downwind if smoking outside and if I can't, will extinguish my cigarrete. I like the fact that one can't smoke indoors in the US. I will walk far, far away from a group of people if I choose to light up and do my best to stay away from EVERYONE. I won't smoke in my own home if I have a non-smoking guest and would take extra measures to clean the place out if they had a condition such as asthma.
But if someone decided that they hate ME and not my nasty habit, then things change. If they say that I'm an a$$hole or God forbid, make jokes about actually SHOOTING me instead of politely asking me to move far, far away, then I guess I wouldn't be so polite.
In that case, I think I'd start puffing away like a chimney and claim the right to do what I please in a public space!

lamh,
Duh, its not new and blacks talk about it despite public opinion, we have addressed issues of black manhood and fatherhood however if you know anything about respectablitiy then you would know that you dont do things like this on a national stage unless you want to make a point. You dont scold your own in public. And dont tell me that he was in a black church because he knew damn well that it would be on television. He is running for president.
As I said before on this blog, I attended Obama's former church (Trinity United Church of Christ, the name of the church before Obama got famous). We talked about black fatherhood and manhood in a way that is celebatory. We praised those who do the right thing. On Father's Day, we make them stand up and clap for them like they do in other churches! We do the same thing on Mother's Day! Wright used to deliver sermons about the power of the strong black family to overcome obstacles.Moss has also delivered similar. However this was different. This did not sit right with me. Some of his choice of words were offensive.
When I was an infant my father walked out after losing his job. The pain of not having a job was too much. My parents were not married. It was the seventies and times were tough. A lot of that happened back then! He returned when I was 6 and my brothers: 8, 10 & 11. My sister was 8. He went to his grave regreting those years that he missed. He made them up in our book because he was there for us for the majority of our lives. He did so much for us and we have so many wonderful memories. However, he never saw it that way. He still felt guilty about the time he missed. He was a good man and a good father. He died of pancreatic cancer in 2005. I miss him dearly.
I had a wonderful father's day with my husband, three brothers and my sister's husband. Four good black fathers who according to public opinion do not exist. We laughed, talked, went out for seafood and remembered pops.

This so called Ph.D surveyed 5 men-really let me take a guess.
Quincy Jones, Terence Howard, Polow da Don, O.J. Simpson and Wesley Snipes. Okay, nothing to see here.
You know this topic is really tired and all hype. Its unfortuante that it must still be spewed from all directions.
"Also has anyone ever notice that in television blacks always have troubles in relationships? Feeding into the hype."
Yes, the media shapes perception. They often show dysfunctional black couples however when the same black male character dates another race, he is loving, compassionate and ready to get married. An actor from ER once spoke about it and it can easily be seen in countless shows and even movies.
I remember when I had to cancel my sister2sister and Honey subscriptions a while back because every front cover and main article was trying to make black women paranoid (white women are taking all the good black men), depressed (you will be alone) and insecure (you are dysfunctional and undesirable).
Look at the crap they are trying to do to Barack and Michelle.
No Thank You, its propaganda. I am happily married. My husband has taken lead as the breadwinner because he brings home the bread. Now if I had to bring home the bread, it would be a different story.

You reap what you sow?? Really...so we are going to judge people based on what is seen in the media?
The media and popular culture have been producing negative images of African Americans for a century. Many if not the majority are against it yet it continues. So we reaped what we sowed for the past century is that what you are telling me?
I noticed from your comments that you like to equate the entire african american community and experienced with hip hop, TV shows, youth culture...
If you have an issue with black people and yourself thenso let it be.
However I will tell you that no group of people would be okay with one drawing up stereotypes and thinking its okay based on TV.
Smart.

I think bathing in a bucket is highly underrated. Living without hot water for several years (although definitely not in a cooler clime like Santiago), I got used to heating water on the stove, pouring it into a bucket with cold water. We'd use everything from gourds to plastic cups to pour the water over us.
I actually got to like it, although it's definitely more time consuming than turning the hot water on.
When we had no hot water for a couple of weeks during a New England winter, everyone in the apartment building was dirty and bitchy. I was nice and clean and had lots of bath time moments that reminded me of living in Mexico!

No, No, No.
1. He was at Trinity during the discussion on Race. It was a Saturday and he was invited.
2. How many times have the people on this here blog uttered the same thing as Pfleger, same thing but he is wrong?
3. Why didn't the Catholic church stretch all this muscle when it came to protecting the innocence and chastity of molested children, young men and women.
4. He got busted, he was intruded on cause the media has no place in the church, they need to stop stalking the church.
5. Have anybody heard of the SOCIAL GOSPEL, can we be serious. It just shows how much people dont know about their own church traditions. Black churches have especially been preaching the social gospel in churches for what 200 years as a response to what has gone on in this country. Are you joking?
If this country has a problem with the social gospel then they need to get rid of the Christian Right, period.
Listen the inability for people to put the media in check for their distortion and double standards is so disgusting. Let them get away with it and they will do it again as they usually do!!
Yea punish the people who help their communities.
