Wow, thanks James, happy to hear people are still getting value out of Local Signal! Appreciate the link and kind words.

Yep, I'm spending most of time (among feeds, twitter, etc) on FriendFeed these days. It's the first place I go when I get online.

And let's not forget about NetworthIQ which is the original social personal finance site. Well, you all may forget about it, but I won't ;-)

I encountered that same Microsoft update instructions page this morning was simply stunned. Reading stuff like "on a separate piece of paper, make a list of all of the accounts that lack the password text box" was unbelievable. I've been using Money for 8 years and only 6 months ago began exploring the automatic updates. Getting this notice really shook me.

I'm on the fence about Wesabe too. It looks great and Jason's a nice guy (I'm sure Marc is too, I just haven't conversed with him yet). But, I still can't quite get over my fear of entering account credentials there (and this is coming from somebody who built a site where people share their net worth details, but the catch is I never ask for account information). Maybe someday I'll take the plunge.

NetworthIQ (mentioned in the money roundup on Mashable) lets you get answers to your money questions.

Thanks for including NetworthIQ. I know brevity is important for lists like this, so I'll just add that NetworthIQ is a complete social personal finance tool that in addition to letting members track their financial status at a high level (we're not quicken-like, you just enter big picture details once a month), also allows for community interaction with features such as Q&A, tips, and journals.

As for the ads, I'd be interested to know what's overly aggressive about them. This is the first time I've heard that, and I'm always looking to make the experience better.

Interesting that you have to sign-up/login just to see your profile. Not the most open thing, so it's hard to get a good feel for it.

Ahead of its time? Maybe. I don't really see a time when enough people would be willing to sell their clickstream, but who would've ever thought we'd want to share all of our bookmarks, pictures, goals, or even Net worth.

If the user gets enough out of it, either in terms of money, or other value (ala del.icio.us popular) it could work.
