Has anyone read the book this movie is going to be based on? Seems like a fantastic idea but if the story isn't any good, it makes me wonder.

It's all about the screenwriters. Without them, the director has no material to work with. Seems like the screenwriters are okay. Therefore, I wouldn't dismiss this because of the director.
