While I have to state upfront I have been a critic of the AAR operation's business model from Day One, I have to agree with you about the idiocy of breaking up Morning Sedition for a game plan that is almost pre-ordained to draw even crappier ratings for their morning drive time slot. As you noted in the post, morning radio in NYC is pretty bare, entertainment-wise. Until Kuby reaches across the table and throttles Sliwa, I can't stomach more than small dosages of WABC. Even when Maron had launched himself to the moon on a lunatic tirade, the man always delivered entertainment.

Goldberg should have stuck to records.

The NY Daily News recently had an article about an estimated 46,000 folks who are registered in both NY and Florida.

If either candidate doesn't score an outright victory, beyond margins of litigation, this election is gonna be a disasterous, drawn out affair that won't land in the Supreme Court again, but will be forcibly shoved into Congess's hands to resolve.

You're right, "hate" crimes make absolutely no sense. And the Yanks/Sox scenario is a good example. Say some poor yahoo wearing a BoSox cap stumbles across my line of sight, and I'm in a particularly crappy mood, so I whomp him. Asked why I did it, I reply, "screw the Red Sox." So the judge gets to tag extra time on my sentence? Why? I've already proved myself an idiot by hitting the guy; the hat was just my excuse.

The Sheppard case always bugged me because of the gag order put on the two losers who killed him. I wanted to know how the hell they knew he was gay?

I've read and re-read that letter from de Becker that Moorewatch received, and all it is semantical wordplay aimed at putting distance between the Ham Hoover and the incident.

The facts of the story FOX published were, and still are, correct: The man was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm (wherever else it may be registered in the US doesn't mean diddly in New York City); he stated as his occupation to the arresting officers that he was Michael Moore's bodyguard.

He didn't say, "I'm a professional bodyguard" or "I'm hired muscle" or anything else. Neither did the article.

Yes, I've noticed that they think the shrew from VF somehow really rubbed FOX's nose into the ground by buffaloing Quinn, who thought the segment was going to be about the pageantry and parties and whatnot. If something like that--a churlish snippy second tier flunkie from a magazine that screams "Bush Sucks" in almost every issue--acting like an idiot is scoring points for their side, they really don't have a clue about how incredibly petty that tape probably looked to the vast majority of FOX viewers who watched it.

I spent a decade in the commodities exchange trading pits, and kept telling my friends the spike in prices was just "locals" (akin to day traders) going nuts, and would fall back down in due time because the spike had nothing at all to do with fundamentals, and made no sense if you took OPEC production levels into account.

Now I'm kicking myself for not shorting the hell out of it when it topped $57.

But you, ensconsed in your Manhattan digs, probably paying more in rent than I pay for my monthly mortgage, cast blanket assertions about the evils of everyone who doesn't toe your line, treat these lawbreakers--who I'll bet you have absolutely no hands-on experience with--as some kind of honorable, idealized...bunch of crack dealers. There is no difference, if you get down to it. Both groups are pissing on the nation's law by their existence. And you would be just as scared witless if you ran into a pack of either crews on a darkened street after they'd packed away too much cerveza.

Where I'd just shoot one with my licensed gun and watch the rest run.

Well wait a minute now...who says an agenda wasn't advanced in this ruling? The ruling allows that the state can seize your property and turn it over to another private party, who has either agreed, or is expected, to give the state more dollars through all applicable taxes that the state applies.
