Personally, I think there should be full communication between network and merchant and the network should be involved in what the merchant does. This will ensure that if there is a slip up of any sort, the network already knows about it and does not jump to conclusions and make irrational decisions. Nowadays, these big networks don't give a rats ass about their merchant and if a problem arises, account closed. They don't want to deal with the problem and no contact is ever made between the two "partners".

I am going to have to go ahead and agree with you. I was offered a similar system (not similar - exactly the same) which I turned down as well. Most blogs are low traffic and I expect the CTR rate to be around 1% (depending upon placement of the widget). So for every 100 visitors to your site, this widget will give you an extra one. Not worth it imo. Although you can find a bunch of people offering some sweet prizes if you sign up under their referral :D

I think that there has been a substantial increase in the number of bloggers/blogs over the past couple of years but I also find it hard to believe that 8% of Americans blog. That seems like a very steep number to me.

Nice list. I use a bunch of these already on my blog. I would also recommend a plugin for the UTW plugin which creates a tag cloud out of all the tags (see my site for demo).
