in Patti Digh asks: What would you be doing today if you only had 37 days to live? on Carrie and Danielle
I would make a list of 370 things I really, really, want to do, and then do 10 a day until D-Day. I would love to have my family and friends participate during my journey of course .

patti digh wow! I'd love to see that list--or maybe I should try to make my own!

in What do you love about men? (or, why is it so great being a man?) on Carrie and Danielle
Chivalry - there is nothing sexier than a gentleman! Opening doors, pulling out chairs, letting you walk on the inside on the sidewalk, pumping gas, etc...yum!

in Guy Kawasaki asks: If you could eliminate one activity from your day, what would it be? on Carrie and Danielle
I would eliminate my job with all of its rules, restrictions, e-mail, etc.... and write fulltime.

in What's on your must-have list for fall fashion? boots - Petit Bateau - Foley and Corrina - vintage - Luchesse cowboy boots - wide leg jeans | Carrie and Danielle on Carrie and Danielle
Oh, I love Joannie's wardrobe on Mad Men too (I am so glad that won an Emmy -it means they will be around longer)! I think I have most of the things I really wanted - long sweater cardigan in tan, wide leg jeans, ankle boots, and few sweaters/cardigans that go with everything. Oh, and I just cut my hair short - looks Halle Berryish - loving it; I have gotten a lot of compliments about it too.

in How have you changed? on Carrie and Danielle
I know so much more about myself than I used to, and I now know that it is okay to be exactly who I am. I am grateful for the style statement because it helps me to stay focused on my authenticity - thanks Carrie and Danielle!

Meditation helped me to learn to slow down and not be so impatient. It is difficult at first, but I started about by doing 5 minutes until it felt comfortable, then 10 minutes, and so on - now I can meditate for about an hour. The effects of meditation gradually carries over into your entire life, and you begin to slow down. Also, there is a website called "Zen Habits" that I think has some great suggestions - I believe that it was on Carrie and Danielle's site a couple of weeks ago.

in What’s the best concert you ever attended? on Carrie and Danielle
Janet Jackson - she really put on a show! Amazing dancing, several costume and set changes - it was visual decadence! This was around the time of Rhythm Nation, when I think she was at her best.

in What do you find beautiful about your body? on Carrie and Danielle
I love my face - my eyes, my nose, my lips, my smile. I also love my hands because they are very elegant. I love having a curvy body as well - when I was younger, I used to be really skinny, and I always wanted to have womanly curves. Now I have them - if I could just get rid of the stomach, I would be on fire!!!

in How do you know when a decision is “right” for you? on Carrie and Danielle
Ruth, companies are always looking for good employees, regardless of the economy. I was recently looking for a job, and I received a lot of traffic from my resume. Things worked out at my current job where I wound up not having to leave, but I am just saying that to let you know that you will definitely find a job (I always think in the back of my mind, I only need one job -- definitely doable!) Good luck on your job search!

in What do you know the most about? on Carrie and Danielle
I know a lot about self-knowledge, movies, and spirituality. I am extremely introspective, which is both a blessing and a struggle at times. I love spending time alone, but I also would like to have intimacy with a few key people.

in How do your actions manifest, and contradict, your beliefs? on Carrie and Danielle
I believe the answer to just about any question should be "it depends". Different circumstances bring out different parts of our personality, and I think that is okay. I believe God put us all here to experience, to experience the good, the bad, the up, the down, the concrete, the mysteries, etc... I don't believe we should try to define ourselves so narrowly, because the truth is that we are unlimited, encompassing all of it.

You are welcome - I am glad that you found that question helpful. Photography is actually something I want to pursue as well once I get my writing off the ground, but more as a hobby. I have a really good friend that is a photographer, and she is currently struggling with whether she should leave her job and pursue it fulltime. I hope that you go for it now that you have a chance to do what you really want to do - and I hope to see you name in a photography exhibit someday :) Good luck!

I actually am a career counselor, and one of the questions I usually asks my students and that usually makes the light bulb come on is, 'If you had $10 million, what would you do with your time (after you finish sipping margaritas on a beach, traveling, etc...)? I find that it usually helps to take money out of the equation so you can really focus on what you are passionate about and what would seem endlessly fun/exciting.

That is awesome! It always seems so liberating when people talk about throwing caution to the wind and going on the road in an RV. I hope that you have a a great time.

I am excited that I have finally committed to writing, and that I am doing it first thing in the morning before anything else happens.

in What is something completely luxurious that you dream of owning? on Carrie and Danielle
Where to start...
1) a private luxury jet
2) a Victorian home on the water
3) an in home theater
4) a personal library
5) a luxurious dressing room
6) a writer's haven - I have recently been dreaming of creating a place where writers can work and inspire each other: with fully equipped rooms for writing, a cafe/bistro, resource room, meeting spaces, etc...

Hunter boots are only $100 - I think you should buy some immediately and check that off your list.

in What is your favorite fiction book? on Carrie and Danielle
Dan Brown's "The DaVinci Code" and "Angels and Demons" and most of Jodi Picoult's books. I also like Robin Sharma's "The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari" - about a lawyer who becomes a monk; very engaging and it had a lot of great lessons. I will certainly be rereading some books from the past after reading everyone's lists.

Yes, I too read "The Celestine Prophecy". I really enjoyed that book and all of the other books that go along with it. The movie was actually pretty good as well.

in What do you need to move your vision forward? on Carrie and Danielle
A plan. I spent this weekend figuring out my weekly routine so that I can make writing a priority. Now, I will write first thing in the morning for 1 1/2 hours - that way I have worked toward my dream before the rest of the day gets in the way.

in What do you find sexy? on Carrie and Danielle
Men with salt and pepper hair, eyeglasses (a great pair of glasses is so sexy), gentlemen, renaissance men (open to just about anything), smells like he just stepped out of the shower, clothes look like he fell out of a J Crew catalog (most of their clothes and shoes are very masculine and hot), intelligence, and a great sense of humor

in This Labor Day, how would you change our work culture? on Carrie and Danielle
1. Equal pay for equal work
2. Pay a liveable wage to everyone - especially administrative workers, janitors, etc... who do so much, and get paid very little
3. 4 day work week - actually, this is quite easy to do; I work at a place where you work two extra hours each day during the week, and then you can take the 5th day off (I only participate in this during the summer months)
4. ban cubicles - I don't see how companies expect anyone to be really productive when you have no privacy and can hear everything happening around you - plus, as one person already stated, they are just plain ugly
5. invest in assessments that are designed to teach you what everyone does well, and then fashioning the work to capitalize on everyone's strengths

in When do you hide? on Carrie and Danielle
It sounds like you are just a misunderstood introvert. You should read this book called "The Introvert Advantage" - it was completely liberating for me because I am an introvert as well, and like 75% of the U.S. population are extroverts. You should definitely stop trying to be bubbly if you don't feel it because it is a total energy drain. This book helped me to be comfortable with being an introvert and gave excellent suggestions on ways to conserve your energy and deal with others.
