I just bought Samsung's Omnia and I'm loving the interface. Can't wait to update my iPaq 211 to something similar :)

Thanks for the great list! This should make it even more impossible to keep up with everyone on the net... Won't stop me from trying, though :)

And here I thought that my news reader was sluggish ...
Here in Japan, there are quite a few bloggers (English and Japanese) that have taken it easy this week. Perhaps the start of December has more people Christmas shopping than blogging?

I look forward to reading all the posts! Hopefully you'll accept some of the less popular "sports", as I have some ideas that may go against the conventional definition of sport.

Nice specs. But can you run a shell off it?
It's great to hear that you've managed to get everything switched over, and in record time, too. Quite often when we see people make the switch from one host to another, there's a three or four day silence

in Nice Bloggers Finish Last on John Cow dot COM
Being nice all the time is boring, as it tends to be a very passive read. People enjoy articles that have very strong emotions. Hate and rage just happen to be two emotions that we can quickly identify with and get wrapped up in.
Although some nice bloggers can attract a solid readership and have some great discussions, they will never see the same level of community participation as the sites that are chalk full of slander, bias or misinformation

Hmm ... this gives me an idea for a WordPress plugin ... perhaps a utility that will take the comments on our articles from social media sites like Digg, BloggingZoom or Reddit and post them on our blogs....
Definately something to look in to.
Thanks for discussing this. It's something I've thought about myself, but never put into coherent words.

So long as this doesn't become some weird Scientology propaganda, then it's all good. It's been a few years since we've seen any good Roswell movies, so perhaps this will give us something to look forward to.

People didn't like JarJar, mitochlorians or Anakin? No!?!?
Hehehe. This should be pretty interesting. Hosting the most talked about problems in the Star Wars universe will be a dream come true for anyone who's posted more than 50 gripes on the various internet forums about these topics.
My biggest gripe? A parsec is a unit of measure for distance, not time.
Aside from that, Star Wars is written for children the same way as Harry Potter ... without the quiddich :P

in More Google Punishment After PageRank Penalizing? on John Cow dot COM
Yay, more spanking from Google
I remember this happened about a year ago with Feedburner and the issue was resolved after 48 hours. Hopefully this is just a slight hiccup in the system. If Google really is making changes to how numbers are calculated, they could be in for a bit of a PR (Public Relations) nightmare.
That said, they could likely survive it without any trouble. They essentially own most of the English-speaking internet :???:

Dude ... and I used to read his blog all the time.
It's pretty sucky when someone forfeits all their hard work this way. Even if he was super busy for two months straight, it doesn't take much time to fire off an email saying "I'm sorry, but I bit off a bit more than I can chew." :???:

That's one heck of a valuation. I'd be interested to know the breakdown of the figure, even though it's probably next to impossible to do.
With all the aquisitions and mergers lately, I can see why Automattic might be interested in selling.

in Why does Apple get a free ride? on Mathew's comments
Where did you hear that Martyn (the guy that downloaded the firmware from his iPod Touch) was going to publicly release the data?
In every media report, forum, and IRC channel discussing the topic, the code was posted to a "secure part of his website and was never going to be publicly released". Before passing judgement on another person's intelligence, perhaps you could double-check your facts.

in Why does Apple get a free ride? on Mathew's comments
From what we see on the interweb, since Apple is not Microsoft, they can do whatever they want and most people will not complain.
I don't see why Apple's products garner as much attention as they do. Sure, the machines sometimes look nice. But at the end of the day, they're not much different than any of the competition.
It'd be nice to see Apple hire the people that take their firmware and do something better with it, rather than try and alienate their more technologically talented consumers.
