These are definitely some great plugins.

One thing I would like to note though, on the plugin for discouraging copy cats - there are some social bookmarking plugins that work based on a user highlighting specific text and right clicking on a page to save it (like the Delicious Firefox plugin and the StumbleUpon toolbar review that takes a quote from the page). I have several other plugins that I use which only work if you right click on the page - none of them are to rip off anyone's content, but they just won't work if right click is disabled, which is kind of frustrating sometimes.

I just started using Chrome since it is so much speedier, especially with all of the Google apps I use. I have been considering adding extensions, although I am worried it will be like Firefox and start slowing down with all the additional tools.

I'm hoping to get a Droid in January... played with one in a Verizon store this weekend. As much as I'd like to get an iPhone, I just feel like Verizon has the better overall service. Not just the 3G maps, but actual phone service, as my AT&T always drops calls in my area, which is quite frustrating.

Perez Hilton is one of my guilty pleasures when it comes to celebrity gossip. He's not always rude and disgusting though... one of the things I appreciate about his blog is he likes to take the time to mention particular charities, which gives them a good bit of publicity.

It's not that SEO is no longer important. SEO strategies of the past (link exchanges, for example) are not going to have the same weight as they used to. Instead, SEO companies are going to have to utilize new strategies to get their customers in the top of results, like getting them more involved with social media so their name is mentioned often in the real-time Twitter searches that will be higher in the SERPs.

Traditional SEO strategies are not going to be important in 2010. New and improved SEO strategies will be!

I really think that all personality types can flourish in social media... the anti-social can just acquaint themselves with other anti-social types, the narcissistic can find people to constantly follow and flatter them, and so on. Social media gives everyone the chance to truly be themselves in ways that they may not dare to be in real life.

I have had a lot more success with Adsense using multiple sites vs. just one authority site. The big thing to remember when you're creating those sites for Adsense is creating sites that are truly valuable, otherwise Google could put the slap on everything, especially if all of your sites are on one Adsense account, which likely they are.

The title is definitely one of the most important things to consider. You have to consider not only what will grab a potential reader's attention, but what keyword value you are sending to search engines as well. Because if you get good keywords, then you are going to get new visitors from Google, Yahoo, etc.

I think the only way you get traction with the shout feature is if you are a recognized name among your friends as someone who will Digg up anything they receive. After I got a little too involved in other networks, I stopped watching my shouts, and really just Digg things via the Firefox toolbar or ones that have a Digg button on the post.

The only thing I hate about links with Digg bars (or Owly, Facebook, etc. bars) is I have the tendency to miss the fact they are there, and then stumble or bookmark the page elsewhere with the digg.com/url instead of the original article.

Definitely a great basic guide. One thing I will note is that reviews have more weight in the Stumble system. For example, if you have Feedburner and a Stumble It Feedflare enabled, subscribers will see (at least in Google Reader) only the number of Stumble reviews the article has, not the number of Thumbs Ups. This goes for a few networks that check the social popularity of articles as well. So in your community, the more stumble reviews you give, the more you are likely to receive.

Sometimes, having a larger number of followers leads to people stumbling onto your site and finding that they do love it. Or maybe if you have a follower that is just following for the numbers game, but someone else comes to their profile, finds you, and then genuinely takes interest, you have still made a good connection.

I personally like having tons of friends because every time I sign onto a network, I see something new and unique that I may not have found if I was only friends with a few people with the same interests.

I'm half and half on this one. I do submit my articles to Digg, that way people can easily Digg them without having to go through the submission process. I let other people stumble my articles, but once they do, I do share the article with the rest of my Stumble subscribers. But I also submit and stumble things for other people as well, so I think that is the balance.

My fiancé has been playing games on a site that has lots of old Nintendo games. My greatest find was CD-Man (although it doesn't seem to run on newer machines anymore) and a game, Buster Bros., where this guy pops bubbles in half, then those halves in half, and so on with a spear from underneath them. I used to play it on an arcade machine in a small grocery store when I was little.

Those are some good pro's and con's to consider. My fiancé is strictly Mac, and after playing on his desktop for awhile, I can see why. I have been considering a Macbook of some sorts, but it will be awhile. I'll keep my trusty Windows laptop too though, for those things that only a Windows machine can do. :)

Those are good reasons not to do it. I doubt I could be in the police. Aside from not being physically tough or intimidating in the least sense, I think there are situations where I would not be able to uphold the law because of the circumstance around which things happened. It's hard to explain, but I would be way more forgiving than the police force would want in their force.

I just added mine last week. It seems like that is something Adsense should email you about directly, even if you did opt-out of emails. Can you just use redirect links to get the older bookmarks to point to your new site? I don't know if it's too late, but maybe through using the Google Webmaster Tools, or something else that shows where people are hitting broken links, you could add redirects for the posts that are popular. Or include a custom 404 that says photos have been moved too. I'm thinking about doing the same with my photography - to move it to a portfolio site, but I am having to work on what to do with the current posts on my site.

I think it's definitely a matter of budgeting time per day to do social media, otherwise you find yourself stuck in it for hours and hours at a time. Once you get a rhythm of how to do things, it will be go much faster.

You really have to optimize your content more, in order for Google to pick the right part of your page to add in as a description. I guess my fear is that Google will pick words off my site that have nothing to do with the article, and include them into the description. Granted, someone would hit my page at that point, but may not get what they are asking for.

For example, when you go to sites that pull up part of your last article in a feed snippet, and end up pulling the "Share this" links instead of the main text. So now someone searching for a Facebook article may see mine just because I have a "Share this on Facebook" link at the bottom of my post about cats or something unrelated. I hope that makes sense.

Nonetheless, useful information. I will do my best to wean myself off of meta descriptions and tags.

I think things that are facts can be twisted to still be word for word, and therefore still "facts", but twisted in a way that distorts the truth. Like how they have propositions coming out that says vote yes to doing x, which is a factual. But advertising leaves out details that this same propositions will also do y and z. So although factual in stating one goal, it is not completely truthful in stating all of its goals.

I think there is a difference between a spanking (hand only - no paddles or kitchen utensils) for punishment and abuse. I certainly never felt abused when I got a spanking as a child, and I learned my lesson whenever it happened. The fear parents have of crossing the line into what someone else may deem as abuse may have resulted in far too little punishment for kids, which has led to seeing things like a child slapping her mom in the grocery store.

This is so true... the last few times I was stressed at my job, the negative effects trickle into all other areas of my life - my eating habits were worse (fast food, no home cooking), my exercise habits were non-existent, and I had a icky attitude towards the people closest to me. Then, when I recently changed to a better job, my eating habits improved greatly, I now play tennis 4 - 5 times a week and am taking dance lessons, and I'm much friendlier to all those around me. It makes a big difference!

Nine Inch Nails has always been a step ahead of the game, in my opinion, of rallying their fans together on the internet. Definitely great tips, especially about the shortened URL's. I have Firefox NoScript plugin to *hopefully* prevent any scripts running on my machine when I accidentally click on a malicious site. It's a bit annoying in other areas, but otherwise does its job.

One thing I recently did to bring older articles back into the spotlight was adapted a blog meme that I was tagged for, 7 things you may not know about me, and turned it into 7 things new readers may not know about me and this site. This way, new readers would be linked to my favorite posts in each of the subjects I post about.

It is sometimes hard to find a balance between spending time doing other parts of blogging (commenting, social media, etc) and actually spending time working on your own site. The latter should always take precedence, since there would be no point marketing yourself if your own site isn't doing good.

I've been thinking about publishing books with my photography. It's in the early, early planning process.

I think as far as affiliate marketing goes, I agree that you should advertise products that you have or would use only. It maintains your credibility with your readers.

Great post! I'd say when you are looking for valuable people to follow, try the Twitter directories: Twellow, WeFollow, and JustTweetIt are good places to start. Users can put their profile in these by interest. It's good to put yourself in those as well, as people can find you that way too!

I actually loved watching that show... it was interesting how they were supposed to go back and change things for the better, but there were certain things they could not change, as it would alter everything thereafter.

While there are many, many regrets in my past, I would certainly never go back and change them. A lot of mistakes I made have allowed me the opportunity to tell others in a way that may prevent them from doing something wrong in their lives. And I wouldn't be in the happy place I am, with the person I love, if I had gone down a different path many years ago.

So even though certain parts were bad, being past them, it is easy to see that in some why, even the wrong choices were right, because it put me in the best place I have ever been, which is now.

I find that the longer I put off something I dread doing, the more it subconsciously drives me bananas. It surfaces as irritation with little things around me, like other drivers or dirty laundry, but the root of it all usually leads back to that one thing to do that I don't want to. That's why I'm trying to exact a policy that I will do the things I dislike first thing in the morning, that way they are over with at a time my brain isn't functioning anyway, and by the time it is, I have a day full of good things to look forward to.

I agree with the last part. Sometimes, bad things happen and we can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak. I have had a lot of rough times where I thought that nothing can better, but fast forwarding to now, things are great, and I wouldn't be in the place I am in if it weren't for all of the challenges in my past.

Having a domain for your name does give you the freedom to talk about anything that you feel defines you, both personally and professionally. I bought a domain for my name recently, which I plan to encompass all of my projects and hobbies, once I get enough going.

My thing is to scratch my lip. My nails are usually in rough shape, and I just kind of scratch them along my lip line. I never really noticed it until I saw myself in a video doing it, and now I really focus on not doing it. I hope that you overcome your OCD issue... they are tough to break.

I have no idea if it would help, but I read about one way to stop yourself from having negative thoughts while playing sports is to wear a rubber band on the wrist and snap it every time you realize you are thinking in the wrong direction. I wonder if something similar would help every time you realize you are messing with your hair.

Try the Flickr - Advanced Search, and search for images that are in the Creative Commons License. They allow you to use their pics with a link back to them.

Thanks for mentioning my Fetching Fridays. When choosing how to do a regular link love, go with what feels the best. What types of articles do your find yourself enjoying every week?

You could have Social Media Monday or Blogging Resources Tuesday, etc. I went with Fridays because it seems like the day less people post, but the optimum day to review a week's worth of stuff. :)

I got behind in my guest posting requests, and finally caught up with them... about two months late for a few, but they were awesome bloggers who still used my articles anyway. Most sites are always looking for guest bloggers, so even if you're late, send in your ideas. They still may go for them!

One of the websites I did for a client was down for a little over 24 hours because their host was doing "emergency" maintenance. I thought it was weird that they knew the exact time they would be done with it... like down to 11:18 AM.

My site with GoDaddy was down once, but that was only for maybe an hour, and they had it up and running. Every host has issues I guess, but it's a matter of how often and how quickly they handle them.

Nice new laptop! I'm holding out till I can afford a Mac. I'm really tempted to get anything right now just to have some increased screen resolution, but I'm attempting to be patient.

I'm digging the video. It's always nice to see the person behind a site, more than just a picture.
