in Intuitive Logo Design? on Duct Tape Marketing
Our logo has the dots representing people too. familylink.com. Everyone we ask hates our logo. In fact an executive from Logoworks was at our office yesterday and poked fun of it telling us the logo has got to go (he promised it wasn't because he wanted his company to create a new one for us).
I think Intuit could have a done a better job. I don't think the little people in their logo matches the image of their brand. The dots as people is so 5 minutes ago. Intuit is a creative company, I wish their logo did a better of showing that.

in What would the perfect business day look like? on Duct Tape Marketing
I would like to know more about your 8 buckets and how you step into each one in 4 hours.
I have a lot of buckets I have to step into but feel that I do better when I step into one or two a day. But I would love to step into them all everyday.

in The Social Graph is Facebook’s Most Valuable Asset on AllFacebook
Nick,
I just wanted to thank you for your time on Friday at Snap Summit. I was actually talking with a friend who came to the conference with me about this idea of the "social graph." We talked about what Facebook is going to be able to do and also how Google is going to answer. The fact remains, Google doesn't know who my Grandma is. And if they do then they have violated my privacy because I have never shared that information with them voluntarily.
My thought on who will be able to compete with Facebook is this. No one, kind of. What I mean is no one will be able to compete with them on the same scale, but I think niche markets such as travel will be able to get the same information for groups of travelers. I'll show you how we are going to do that in the coming months. We will of course create a Facebook app to help and so Facebook will still play a key role.

Christina,
There is a simple solution to this problem. At the company I am at right now we use our domain but it is hosted by Gmail. Go to https://www.google.com/a/smallbiz/
This has saved us a lot of money and we are all familiar with gmail so it is really nice. We also use google docs and calendar to collaborate inside the company. The great thing is you can have your account open for the company and your personal gmail account opened at the same time without having to log out.
This should kill two birds with one stone if I understood your post correctly.
Good luck!

in http://blog.cristinafavreau.com/2007/04/what-questions-should-i-ask/ on The Savvy Entrepreneur
Cristina,
Thanks for the advice on a question that has been bothering me for some time now. There are a lot of people who tell you how important it is to ask questions but no one ever tells you how.
I found that when I started writing out my questions to ask people I focused on getting through the questions instead of listening with sincere intent.
I like the idea of avoiding "being mechanical, going through the motions or appearing like you’re reading from a script — clients will catch on quickly, get turned off and go somewhere else."
We all hate talking to salesman who are mechanical. When we tell them what we are looking for and they go on with their script and try and push something that you'd never use. We know they are just trying to sell us instead of educating us about how they fulfill our needs.
Thanks for the advice and I look forward to reading what others have to say.
Ryan

in What clients REALLY want on The Savvy Entrepreneur
Cristina,
Great post. I know exactly how you feel on both ends. As a salesman I have a hard time with what questions I should ask. I know that it is important to ask questions. But what if they want to know more about what you offer. Do you respond with a question? Give them a small response and then a question? or just go into your value proposition?

in Fears of embarking on the journey on The Savvy Entrepreneur
The fear that keeps me from going out on my own right now is lack of knowledge and experience. I understand that I will never know everything nor do I want to know everything. I just want to know how much is enough? When should I just do it?
Is there a base of knowledge that someone should have before they venture out on their own or when the idea comes go for it and learn on the way?
It would nice to learn from all of you who have been there done that. I read as much as I can about being succussful and how to start a business. I try and read a book a week. The struggle comes in the application and remembering how to handle each unique situation.
