in Web Content Curator OneSpot Gets $4.2M Boost - mediabistro.com: WebNewser on WebNewser
Thanks Chris! For more info, check out my blog post on the funding.

I''d love to connect with journalists on MediaBistro - follow "onespot" on Twitter or become a fan of OneSpot on Facebook for more info; we also have an email newsletter at onespot.com for updates.

@TC Fan; I don't think Chris got the link from Techcrunch - I think he read my blog post....

in Porter Novelli Austin, rocks on john erik metcalf
John, you're spot on about Porter Novelli - we've had a fantastic experience with our whole team there, currently Laura, Josh and Megan. Highly highly recommended. To anyone reading this who is considering applying for their open position: What are you waiting for? Apply already! You won't regret it!

Kristen - thanks for the insightful review! Excellent point about email: it may be old school, but it's still the primary way of sending content to most people - it tends to get underestimated in the "Web 2.0" discussion.

Right now the product is designed for larger companies – but we're hard at work on a small publisher version of the product, which we will announce in the near future. If you'd like to receive updates, as well as top online media and marketing stories from around the Web, just sign up for our newsletter. OneSpot has many different applications in different shapes and sizes and our goal is to serve all of those different audiences.

We've definitely been watching the AP story with interest - a lot of us are hoping that a reasonable compromise will come out of the current discussions....

Sphere, as you say, finds "related content" - content that is related to a particular article. OneSpot is more of a "top stories" engine: it finds the stories from around the Web that are likely to be interesting to a given audience, independent of any specific story. Put another way, OneSpot can find interesting content even for people who don't have content at all to start with.

We see Sphere as a complimentary service: as you also say, OneSpot and Sphere are used by a number of the same sites.
