Can anyone give me further clarification on NASBA/AICPA states and what each means? What is Arizona? How long after the date scores are released are they mailed? Help would be much appreciated

in Drip, Drip on Manhattan Beach Confidential
You have to admit that a bit of that "just don't see it" aspect is due to cognitive dissonance: you've already bought, so that makes the way you perceive the housing market completely different than someone who has not committed. It's only natural that you will percieve your choice to be a good one, but it's hard to really be objective in your situation. From an current renters perspective, buying last year was a mistake as is buying this year as the downpayment has/will be mostly wiped out. But like somebody commented, if you can afford your house and you enjoy it, then good for you. At least you didn't wind up with a Tuscan. It wasn't the best financial decision you could have made, but if it won't break you, then you're ok. Not trying to be mean spirited, just giving an outsider perspective. Full disclosure: am a renter, want to buy and have the cash, but not willing to let my downpayment go up in smoke.

Blaster is one of the greatest underrated games of the era. Really goddamn challenging (how long did it take you to finally get to "Paradise"?), cool graphics and hellaciously fun. Especially when played on my modded xbox through the projector on the 7' screen!

in Amy Sullivan: The Fallout from Ted Haggard on God's Politics
I understand that when you take a bold public stand, your life and actions fall under more scrutiny, however what is dissapointing here has nothing to do with his politics, his NAE 30 million members(or whatever), or his church of 14,000. What is truely disapointing is that a man has fallen.

A man has fallen and a family has been hurt in a way that is potentially preventable if we would understand that all men/women are fallen; that, as one comment put it, the sin of homosexuality is no different from any other sin... how many of us have already told that little white lie today, or re-told that little tidbit of information to a dozen others who are not involved.

Yes, the public and political consequenses will be vast, possibly more wide-spread than any of us can imagine. But politics be damned, today is a very sad day in the life of the Haggard family.>

in Ralph Reed to Jim Wallis: Broad Concerns Are Compatible with a Focused Agenda on God's Politics
Dear Mr. Reed,

Could you please reference where tax policy is covered in the New Testament? I thought we are to give to Caesar what is Caesar s? Matter of fact, could you also please elaborate on why free market ideals are more moral than Keynesian economics? I was taught not to store up treasures on this earth and not be anxious? Why are you teaching the opposite? Isn't true that the Bush Administration had very close ties to Enron and Ken Lay? Is this the moral leadership and the sort of people that you think make a Christian businessman? Why can t you accept that we Christians have been misled by this administration? How can you rationalize the treatment of prisoners with for I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' " How are you looking after these prisoners from Iraq?

I prey for you Mr. Reed. One day you are going to realize what you are doing and how what you did to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did to me

How can you not oppose the reality that the top 1% of Americans are accumulating an increasing amount of wealth, while the middle class does not keep up? How can you not oppose greater environmental laws? How can you allow the administration to slash programs (such as the children s health study) and think that this is being a good steward? You cover yourself in false doctrine to hide what we all can see: you are a phony.

As someone who is a religious conservative and believes in a literal translation of the Bible, I am saddened how you have maligned our image and have turned us into a political movement. I live my life to serve God, not special interest groups like yours. Neither Democrats nor Republicans are moral: they were created and operate to serve worldly interests.

The reality is Mr. Reed is that you, like so many other great men before you, have fallen and have allowed your ego and worldly desires to take precedence over serving our Lord, Jesus. I will prey for you and hope that one day you will understand the story of the Good Samaritan.

in Kerry slays Bush in first debate on The Cosmic Tap
Absolutely a best-case scenario for the Kerry camp. While I think Kerry did his fair share of skirting, he nailed it. Rose to the occasion and showed that he is indeed Presidential.

It will be extremely interesting to see how handled Bush will have been during the next debate. There will be a stark contrast in his performances. But I think that will break down before too long because it is achingly apparent that Bush cannot think on his feet and that he really does not have a deep grasp of the complexities of the issues (not that I am claiming to, but I certainly can tell a lack of comprehension).

If this is to be the tenor of the following debates, then Hello President Kerry.

And what was the Matthews quote? Here we go, thank you Anna Marie:

Chris Matthews, post-debate:

"What do you think about the fact that, you could say, the President elected to receive?"

Indeed. Ankles grabbed.
