It's bad but I don't know if it'll ever beat the dark days surrounding the end of the RMK regime.

As for our performance on Sat., I think the guys will come out prepared and hopefully with a little chip on their shoulder over what they have had to deal with this past week.

You know shortly after that photo, Kelvin walked into the locker room and said:

"I put it to you, Indiana University, as we spend our final game together, be proud of who you are!Look at me Ma, I made it! I'm okay!"

in IU President will address media at 3PM presser on Inside the Hall
This the only time we have the spotlight on the program? Seriously? That's ridiculous. The spotlight was on this program from the get-go because of fantastic freshman, Eric Gordon and Big Ten player of the year candidate DJ White. The spotlight has only gotten brighter as those two have solidified expectations and in DJ's case he's blown them out of the water with the way he is playing.

While the current situations at IU have certainly turned up the spotlight at IU to an almost unbearable level, let's not kid ourselves thinking this is the first time the spotlight has been on this program this year.

in IU security: No “bring back Bobby” t-shirt for you on Inside the Hall
I absolutely hate the notion of Bobby Knight ever being hired back to coach Indiana University again, but I can't help but shudder at the 'big brother' aspect that story brings to Assembly Hall. If true, that's sad and a little dis-heartening.

But of course, we are IU fans. You don't expect us to be rational or fair about anything do you?

It's the mob mentality at this point. I think anything less than a burning at the stake won't appease many of the fans.

You wait until the end of the season and then re-evaluate his position and the University's position.

No sense in jumping to conclusions, oh wait...

in Summary of NCAA allegations on Inside the Hall
Relax, take a deep breath. It's not the end of the world. It's not the end of IU basketball. All we have are the allegations outlined.

So far, no punishments have been handed down. A lot can happen between now and June.

Bill Illinois is 12-6 v. IU since the '99-'00 season. A 0.667 winning percentage in that window clears the hurdle easily for "current ownership."

Am unsurprised that you respond to the facts with denial.

However, c'mon; you guys should have pounded us by 30 at home last month. We suck this year. In fact, most of you were cocky enough to expect it. Instead, you escaped with a four-point win and in fact should have lost.

Man, we beat MSU in Champaign 70-40 in '03 and then 75-51 in '04 when they had good teams. We beat you 80-54 in Champaign in '03 when you had a decent team (21-13 / 8-8.) So for goodness sake when a lower-division conference team (like the cellar-dwelling Illini are this year with only two wins so far) plays a squad with IU's talent on the road the result should be a hefty double-digit schooling.

Truth hurts. Deal with it.

in Will Gordon feel the Krush? on Inside the Hall
I expect DJ to have his typical double-double against the Illini. I'm guessing somewhere around 15 points and 11 boards. I fully expect Gordon to get around 20 or more points. Sure it'll be hostile environment but lest we forget - this is Eric 'Freakin' Gordon donning the Indiana jersey for his home state team.

I hope we see more points from Bassett. He needs to be that outside threat for IU to be effective inside.

I don't see the Illini scoring a lot of points, so if IU can get solid points from some of their role players (Bassett, AJ, Crawford) I envision IU winning by a 10 point margin. Of course that may depend on how shored up the interior defense is.

in Will Gordon feel the Krush? on Inside the Hall
I always felt the best time for a freshman who has yet to play any significant minutes this season is to all of a sudden give him serious minutes on the road in one of the most hostile games the Hoosiers will play away from their home court. There is no way that strategy will not end well.

But I am intrigued by the prospect of seeing IU playing some zone. But that may just depend on how well the Illini are shooting the ball.

in How will you remember the General? on Inside the Hall
Bob Knight spent many years building up the IU program to a National Championship caliber team. Unfortunately, I was too young to have many memories of those early years. In the same way that he built up this team, he also brought it down - whether it was his anger, his childish behavior, or something else he did/didn't do. For all the talk about how great a basketball coach was, he was routinely getting out-coached in the postseason towards the end of his career at IU and even times before the exit (Pepperdine, Colorado - Chauncey Billups destroyed IU).

Maybe he stayed too long, maybe he lost his coaching touch. I don't know. For all the good that Knight has done at IU (and he has done a lot), for me, it will never overshadow the public image that Knight routinely trotted out for the rest of the nation to witness.

The angry, angst-filled, sometimes-violent Knight that we saw far too often in his later years, unfortunately is the Knight I will remember.
