Unless you have Parallels running as root, you would get a request for password from OS X when Windows tries to do anything funny with the libary or the system, if you are a LUA then also with the applications folder, and some places in your home folder. so, unless you just type in your password in the dialouge box then click OK without looking, it should be OK.

You most likely wan't a smartphone that is easy to use without a major learning curve, and is a system that is fun to use and not very annoying. In that regard, the iPhone would be the best, due to it being the simplest and most fun current phone on the market, followed by BlackBerry, then Palm.

OS-wide plugin support would be nice, so you can have things like a text expander that automatically changes a pre-set code that you type anywhere into a long phrase like an address.

I only want 3G if there is enough coverage. Here in Okotoks we have no Rogers Vision, yet we are only half an hour away from Calgary, which does. RIM is smart to include both EDGE and HSDPA on the Bold.

If the iPhone has 3G but no EDGE, I doubt it will be sucessful enough to threaten the BlackBerry up here.

I think the Bold CDMA due to TELUS having an $45 unlimited web emil IM SMS eta, preferably the 9330 due to it being cheaper but I'm not sure if I want to wait two years or so... Possibly even the Thunder but I am hesitant on how the UI will function (but if it is 4.6 like the Bold as rumoured then I assume it will act as the bold screen but with more estate until input is required), so right now it is wait and see.

CDMA shouldn't take too long, as all they need to do is swap out some of the wireless chips, yet preferably keeping it a world phone, compared to re-optimizing the handheld for bigger batter drains.

@Jeremy: 3G is the network speed. both EVDO and HSDPA (and EDGE in certain deployments in Eurasia) are considered 3G. EDGE, at least the American and Canadaian deployment, is 2.5G, 1xRTT (what your Blackberry falls back onto if there is no EVDO, and what most CDMA phones use) is 1G

X11 from my disc won't work, and I've narrowed it down to a tiny scratch on the disk, or my recent reinstall went bad.
