in Finally a light weight sitemap plugin is here - Simple Google Sitemap on Blog Design Studio
I understand that it may add up if there are hundreds sites on same server (as in cheap hositng). But on cheap hosting anything can be called high-resource usage - I had once lost wiki that wasn't even using database and had total of three daily visitors. I may be wrong but tons of plugins that people use at the same time and at each page load are probably creating incomparably more load than sitemap generator.

btw read recently that Google accepts RSS feeds for sitemap, may be esay alternative. Hadn't tried myself yet.

in Finally a light weight sitemap plugin is here - Simple Google Sitemap on Blog Design Studio
Hm, as far as I understand sitemap is generated only when content changes with Arne's plugin. How is runiing it for two seconds (for my blog) per post is high resource usage?
Mayank Well, the script is actually resource hungry. Try to understand it like this.. .what is your computer's usage when you launch Adobe Photoshop? So every time you make a post, arne's plugin acts as photoshop (in terms of resource usage). Now there are many blogs on webservers and if each of them is running this script, then what will happen to the webserver??

I hope this clears the doubt.

Hmmm... Assuming it would probably have to fit project name, link for current blog and some graphics - actual message should be like very short. My suggestion is:

"We are reading this"

Promotes sense of community, easy to grasp, turns subconscious "author approves" message into visible one.

in How using Feedburner FeedSmith saves time! on Blog Design Studio
My main problem with FeedSmith is that it redirects ALL feeds. WordPress generates plenty of dynamic feeds - for example feed for posts with specific tag or posts by specific author. FeedSmith just redirects all of those to single main feed which is far from flexible.

I don't own, drive or care about cars (and not planning to) so I can afford to find this advertisement somewhat funny. :) Yes it's mean. Mean works.

in Series : Improve your Blog - Unclutter the blog! on Blog Design Studio
I disagree about blogrolls. I like some blogs, I think they are related to mine and interesting to my readership. Had some method other than blogroll been invented to show that? I don't think so.

Relevant blogroll link is also most quality traffic you can give or get.

I am working on my entry.

And from my group writing experience people are lazy at it takes a lot [of cash] to make them move, sometimes you just pick up prizes alone. :)

in Seth Godin Thinks Twitter is Worthless on Chuck Westbrook's Blog
Yep, amount information that fits in 140 symbols is short. But so is information density. twitter is hardly used for sharing deep complex insights. Don't need book to share what you are doing or thinkig this evening.

Chuck Westbrook Right, but if someone misunderstands what you are doing this evening, that doesn't usually matter much.

in Why Traffic generator widgets are of no use ? on Blog Design Studio
Free traffic seems charming to bloggers but those are always empty promises. :) It takes time to learn this lesson and it's a pity plenty of people drop out before they do.

Nice looks and indeed impressive typography. I only don't like bubbles in sidebar, they seem overinflated.

Participate in group writing projects. It gives a lot of opportunities to link, to get links, to network with others and traffic spike on top.

in Custom Theme Design for TechologyProfessional.Org on Blog Design Studio
Nice, very light and clean design. :) I like how it creates feeling of blocks without much actual borders in content area.

I get something like question marks instead of quotation marks and apostrophes. Font issue?

in Extensions for Windows: You can Win! on Extendably
What's not great is that they try to scare user by showing array of expensive commercial apps in comparison... without mentioning that most of them have excellent and absolutely free alternatives as well.

I have no problems with software but I always root for educated choice, not scare tactics. They could highlight saving time and ease of use but instead they highlighted and lied about saving money.

PS as far as I understood it's not 50$ per year, it's simply 50$ for software and updates for a year included.

Yeah, and if I don't create that profile (like other 99.99% of Internet probably) ? :)

Problem with such centralized stuff that it somewhat breaks common experience.

adondai Agree, but if everyone adopts it, it'll be a success and it'll work =P that's why I am. 30, 000 blogs so far is pretty good...

kinda the 'chicken or the egg' situation

Good luck on everything. :)

As for feedback - what's the purpose of this strange disqus thingy?.. I'd prefer normal comment form with "Subcribe-to-comments" plugin.
adondai's picture
adondai Disqus has a lot of advantages... it's a plugin aimed to creating one profile and account which can be used across all Disqus enabled blogs... if people use it.

It takes care of a lot of things like Spam protection, threaded comments, moderation, comment voting in just one plugin... much easier then mucking around with several for WP.

If you create a Disqus profile then there isn't a need for subscribe to comments, any comments you make on a Disqus blog you'll be able to see the replies to etc.

in Google Chrome, as Extendable as Firefox? on Extendably
>Sick of hearing about it yet?

I am most certainly am. :) Torn between posting my own thoughts after actually using it (unlike most) and letting it sit for a week or two.

And I also think Chrome feels bit like Opera in experience. Still it's very beta.

adondai's picture
adondai Chrome definitely has a lot of Opera inspired features! It was the first thing I thought when using it for first time... but I haven't really heard many comparisons... I think a lot of commentators have never actually used Opera because stuff like dragging tabs into a new window is an Opera feature... yet they talk about it being this amazing new chrome feature.
