in Windows 7 - a second chance for Vista? on A little place of calm
I'm looking forward to seeing what you think about it, because I've heard good stuff about it too! (Like, as soon as Vista came out they were like, "screw this, let's just get to work on Windows 7 and fix everything.")

I'm a PC user (never really cared for Macs), but I still do find the commercials funny... Actually, John Hodgeman (the guy who's a PC) is pretty funny in general - and a self-confessed Mac user.

That's weird that they didn't show the "I'm a Mac" commercials in the UK but they're airing the "I'm a PC" ones anyway. Both companies' commercials have been played to death in the US! (I think there are two "I'm a Mac" ones running currently, about Vista.)

You shouldn't have to stay up to find out the results... They probably won't know anything definitely until first thing in the morning (for you), after the west coast is counted. As long as I hear the Pennsylvania and Ohio results tonight, I'll sleep well, I think.

in Ahh, Friday! :) on A little place of calm
This season definitely feels faster-paced than 1 and 2. I mean, first episode, look what happened right away - they thing they spent all of season 1 trying to prevent. Season 2 was kind of weird because of the writer's strike - they knew it was going to happen, so they did away with some of the things they wanted to do and wrapped up the stories too quickly.
Also, I can spell "League," duh.

If I liked Leage of Gentlemen, would I like Little Britain? Apparently the former opened the door for the latter. We don't get HBO, so I can't watch Little Britain USA, and someone GG met once gave him some Little Britain DVDs but they don't work in our DVD player :o(
Speaking of TV - Heroes!! How exciting that they're showing it almost concurrently in the US and UK! (But we're still a couple weeks ahead, I think, so you probably shouldn't read my blog too closely.)

What about all the yeasties you're eating? That's pretty un-vegan of you ;o)

So was this special vegetarian bread? I thought all bread was vegetarian. I was going to guess that there was no yeast, but there obviously was, so I'm confused.

Nothing special about this loaf; just a loaf of basic white. Most bread is vegetarian. Some deranged people use milk or eggs in there though.

Ohhh if one or both of your cats has blood in their urine, take them to the vet ASAP! Google "cystitis." Male cats are more prone to it than females, but I had a girl cat growing up who had it - and once they get it, even when it's taken care of, they're more susceptible to getting it again. But be sure to get them checked out immediately, if you let it go too long they can die :o(

What do they use for the casing of a vegan sausage?
Colleen, how can you not like macadamia nuts? The classiest of the nuts!

I'm not a kid person at all, and don't plan to have any, but I am totally pro-adoption. One, because it's kind of freaky to think about a little parasite person living inside of you; and two, because there's a lot of kids out there already who need homes, it seems wasteful and selfish to generate more. It's like with pets - would you have a dog or cat specially bred for you, or would you adopt one from a shelter who is already there and needs a home?

Haha, that dog is ridiculous!
My Mac-using friends tried to sell me on one by explaining that it can boot into Windows and run all the PC software. What's the point of having a Mac, in that case?

I was going to say lettuce wraps, but I guess someone beat me to it. How about tacos or sandwiches with lettuce as a condiment? Or feed it to some rabbits?

Isn't Microsoft known for throwing a lot of unnecessary junk into things (e.g. web pages created with Front Page or [eek!!] Word docs saved as HTML)?

I know it sucks, especially considering they've apparently guaranteed 99.9% uptime, but I wonder how big of a company this is? Is it just a couple guys running their own servers? If they had a hardware failure, that isn't really their fault. (And GG's Western Digital external HD died recently, too, right after he'd moved his entire CD collection onto it and thrown away most of the CDs. We found out then that Western Digital is known for hardware failures.) They're still pretty close to their promised amount of uptime, and I'm sure they'll reimburse you for the inconvenience. You seem to have liked their service so far, so I'd give them another chance :o)

Those Eee PCs are adorable, I was checking them out a few months ago. But... then I read some stuff about how they're not as powerful as you'd think, and there's a lot of wasted space where they could've made the screen wider. And my new phone does WAP internet anyway, so I figured I'd hold off.

Yeah, I just saw the announcement about the new accounts. Sounds like a dumb option, though (like your whole page will have a theme relating to the product that's sponsoring it?), and they're only testing it for Russian users right now... Why are there so many Russian people on LJ, anyway?
